New BMW X1: low-res production gallery unveiled!

BMW X1

I know it has only been since this morning that we checked out the latest Facebook teaser shots of the new BMW X1, but it appears that a full low-res photo gallery of over 40 photos have been leaked onto the internet.

The photo gallery features two different X1s with slightly different bodywork. The one in Marrakesh Brown seems to be a higher spec version since it has a little more detailing to the body such as a thin chrome bar across the front bumper, and the other seemingly lower-spec X1 is in white.

BMW X1

Also notice there are two slightly different versions of the headlamp – the one on the brown car has that odd angled square inner lense that we saw on the previously released teaser images, while the white BMW X1 has more regular looking lenses in its headlamps.

It looks quite pleasant, a mesh of various BMW design cues. You’ve got the new L-shaped tail lamps, and you can see hints of the F01 7-Series, the current gen X3 in overall shape but sculpted with angles and curves from the BMW E90 LCI.

BMW X1

The interior has tell-tale signs of it being a low-end model – some of the high-end interior features found in recent BMWs are missing, such as the shift by wire gear lever, the new steering wheel design with thumb scrollers, black panel technology on the instrument panel – all of these are missing but instead features elements that you can associate more with the E90-ish generation of BMWs.

Look after the jump for the full leaked gallery.

Hopefully its priced around the normal 1 series and not into the 3 series saloon. Then will surely sell. But then again, this is BMW. Put any outrageous price, and people will still buy it

I know of a few rich ladies who would love this. Alot of them like the higher seating position of SUVs but the X5 was just too big to park so they striked it off their consideration, and the X3 which was sold here in 2.5si form was too uncomfortable. An X1 xDrive20i with a comfort suspension would be just nice.

Wow…the white one quite impressive. See…from my point of view, first glance looking at the shape and its proportion, this would promise ultimate driving experience…in terms of economically financial value, X-trail will win…

Looks real good, esp in white. Hope the dimension of the car is similar to crv/rav4, then it will be much easier to move around in town. Hope price it below rm200k, then we'll see them everywhere in town.

I like that 'eagle' look, its more prominent now. Side profile is nice too. But that lower 'lip' is kind of out of place. And if not for color combination on the bumper and skirting this is plain man!

  • in terms of look wise, i've found that bmw is lacking in terms of design language wise. it always seems odd . the kink is not pronounced enough.

'in terms of look wise, i’ve found that bmw is lacking in terms of design language wise. it always seems odd . the kink is not pronounced enough.'

That's true. But why all the Japanese, Chinese and Koreans are copying the BMW design then ?

BTW: Price in Europe is EURO30000 (RM148,812.00). The Volvo XC60 is EURO 35950, RM29,514.38 more….

Well Paul u can't win em all!!

the current X3 is a M sports package

With the sportier set up ,comfort wld definately suffer.

Probably we'll b seeing the lower spec X1 RWD version here.

..also looking forward to their "d" engines

for the 3/5 series come Oct. :)

Its nice. But bit smaller than X3? Quite small then..(at least not small as Pero2 Nautica)

jhuan, cannot be less than rm200k. Mazda suv nowadays reach up to 300k.

This model is a comparison to the 3 series. How?

  • luqman,

dont get me wrong, there is sort of inconsistency of design among bmw models. it looks like it has been lead by different designers which doesn't really know each other's work. for example , the grill of the bmw kidney has to be consistent among different models. for mercedes, it is fine becasue now matter how u tweak it, it will still have the 'shield' look . but for bmw, it is just sort of different prototypes on different car.

i like the previous generations of bmw 3 series 5 series , they look modern at the time and they look like brother and sister.
