Peugeot has dominated the Intercontinental Rally Challenge for the past three years with its 207 S2000 rally car, and most recently British driver Kris Meeke wrapped up the 2009 season in style, taking for himself the 2009 IRC drivers’ title. To commemorate the victory (and to sell more cars) Peugeot UK has created the Special Edition 207 S16, which is limited to 250 examples.
Based on the three-door 207 Sport 1.6 VTi, the S16 adds on full 207 RC Cup bodykit comprising front and rear spoilers, side skirts and a “pseudo rear diffuser”, 17″ Hockenheim alloys, SP Sports mesh grille, dark tinted rear windows from the 207 GTi, a special interior badge signed by Kris Meeke and of course – vinyl rally graphics which mimic Meeke’s IRC winning 207 S2000. The decals blends elements from the Union Jack and Peugeot’s lion; thankfully they did not cover the bonnet with the flag as well, as the race car does. Not all will like it, so they can have their S16 in pure Bianca White.
Top speed of 200 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 10.7 seconds isn’t really SS winning speed but hey, at least you’ll feel like a champ behind the wheel!

Perodua Myvi model also released their special edition even though they never won any races .. And they have two models for the generation of so-called "special edition"
And … many units of Myvi has caliper brake problem :D
the rear looks like Hyundai i30 laaa…
Azrai!!! I agree with you…
The only thing missing here is Myvi Edisi SUkan….

By limiting it to 250 units only, we can't say Peugeot UK (i presumed) did this to boost their car sales figure.
To put things into perspective, last year (2009) is a bad bad year for auto sale in the whole of Europe, UK included.
See.. Peugeot sold approx. 1,600,000 vehicles in UK alone last year.
They might do better this year, if the market recover.
So.. selling 250 units of special edition car, really is to celebrate the special occasion of them and Meeke winning the IRC. Not to boost sale, really. How can 250 contribute when its just a tiny miny 0.0156% of 1.6 millions? Perhaps to boost image or because people are asking for it. I bet all will be sold instantly.
This is not similar with Peroodua Myvi special edition kind of strategy. How many thousands of Myvi SE on the road and what so special about it anyway? Different bumpers? Than other Myvi? Why? Not big enough, is it?
However, this Meeke special edition is the look-fast rather than actually fast vehicle.
Peugeot don't make fast hot hatchback anymore (there a a few lukewarm hatches available).
They just won't rather than don't know how.
What a pity.
Renaultsport must be very happy.
