Selling a million of anything is pretty much an achievement, so when you manage five, that’s definitely something to shout about. The one managing the milestone number this time around is Audi’s A4 executive sedan.
The five millionth vehicle, an A4 Avant 3.0 TDI quattro in Misano Red, rolled off the Ingolstadt line yesterday, marking a success story that began in 1994 when the B5 arrived as the successor to the Audi 80. It has since spanned over four generations, with the present B8 in its midlife term.
Sure, BMW’s 3er has achieved more in terms of volume with 12 million sold, but it has also been around a whole lot longer; having been around since 1975, that makes it 19 years older than the A4. Give the A4 the same two decades timeframe and it’ll probably manage as well, don’t you think?

A comparison with the BMW 325i sport shows that the A4’s price is exactly the same! Don’t compare the 2.0 with BMW 320, since spec-wise the Audi is in similar league with the 325. The Audi is a turbo after all, and it has 100Nm more torque than the 325, goes from 0-100km/h 1 second faster than the 325, uses less fuel than the 325 & produces less CO2 than the 325.
Problem is, Audi as a luxury brand is not as established as both BMW & Mercedes in Malaysia. BMW & Mercedes are the Toyota/Honda of the luxury segment.
Let VGM take over the Audi distribution, sales will fly.

one thing i don’t like of the Audi design (the one and only thing) is the Steering Wheel….can they make it looks better to put the 4 rings together? 4 rings plus a square box looks…i dunno how to say if I am going to look at it every time i drive the car.
You can stick 4 condoms on the steering wheel instead, it will looks nice.

build quality is superb. interior is way way better then 3 series. i test drove both A4 and merc, i strongly believe most of them will choose the 2.0T rather then the merc C250. their engine is so much better and minimal turbo lag where by the C250 must go above 2.3 RPM.

Better get a Camry. Same boring FWD and looks, but bigger, cheaper, more comfort, low maintainance cost, better resale value, better brand image and so on.
