Ford in Frankfurt: Four world debuts including Focus RS?

Ford, now the fastest growing brand in Malaysia, is planning something big for the upcoming Frankfurt show in September. How big is big? Well, Ford has a 3,200 sq.m stand – its largest ever at Frankfurt – and a 2,800 sq.m track where visitors can test out things such as Active City Stop and Active Park Assist in Ford’s ‘Drive Experience’.

The Blue Oval’s big guns are going to be overseeing the show in Frankfurt, including European chairman and CEO Stephen Odell, J Mays, design group VP and chief creative officer, and Derrick Kuzak, group VP of global product development.

“Ford plans to make a strong statement at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with several very exciting global product reveals and our significantly expanded show stand,” said Odell. “We’re excited to be showing customers our best-ever vehicle line-up and a special glimpse of the future,” he added.

So what can we expect? Ford will bring “four global product reveals” including a major new design concept and details of the next Focus performance car. The latter must be the Focus RS! Stay tuned!

  • I think Ford in Malaysia has an identity problem. the brand is American, but are the cars sold here has been of various origin. British, European and Japanese. Other car maker are global in their reach, but they have a strong identity in relation to their origin. GM’s product similarly suffers fro mthe same problem.

      1. Why does a car have to have a strong national identity to be a good car? Doesn’t help Proton, does it?
      2. The USA, the UK, continental Europe and Japan are full of respectable and high quality car manufacturers. Surely blending them all together makes an even better car?

I dislike Ranger because no EcoBoost for available for this truck. I prefer Falcon Ute or F150.

      • Why do u need an ecoboost for a truck? The current tdci is more torquey & frugal which suit the ranger which is meant for commercial use

TDCi is good for Focus but bad for Ranger. Focus TDCi is fast enough but Ranger TDCi is too SLOW!!! EcoBoost is better for any turcks, because capable of 0~100km/h under 10 secs!!!

  • how about ST? did they ditched the ST after major success with the RS?

    • The “production” 250PS Focus ST will probably be one of the cats that will make its debut at Frankfurt. A pre-production Focus ST concept was unveiled last year.
What other models? maybe the Fiesta ST? B-Max? A concept car?

Ford just to pricey for me. Don’t really care where it is made from just that its American and its way overpriced for a small car.

The models that will make their debut in Frankfurt are most likely euro/global models.
