Honda Malaysia announces “product update campaign” for Civic, City and Jazz – over 40,000 units involved

Honda Malaysia announces “product update campaign” for Civic, City and Jazz – over 40,000 units involved

Honda Malaysia is undertaking a “product update campaign” for three models to rectify some issues. The models involved are the Civic (2006-2008 model year), City (2006-2007) and Jazz (2005-2007). This is to “implement preventive measures against undesired technical issues,” according to Honda Malaysia.

For the 2006-2008 Civic, some affected units experienced oil leakage from the power steering feed hose, caused by deterioration from running in hot and humid weather. Honda Malaysia will change the rubber material for the power steering feed hose to improve its heat resistance. For this, there are 16,537 units of the Civic involved.

Honda Malaysia announces “product update campaign” for Civic, City and Jazz – over 40,000 units involved

Meanwhile, the 2006-2007 City and 2005-2007 Jazz are prone to possible failure of its power window master switch, which under certain conditions, could cause a minor short-circuit resulting in a burnt smell. Honda Malaysia will change all the affected units with a counter measure power window switch. The product update will involve 20,949 units of the City and 2,970 units of Jazz.

Honda Malaysia adds that all current models are not affected by these issues, necessary replacement will be carried out when the parts are ready, and all parts and labour charges incurred in the replacement work will be borne by the company.

At least they are doing something and try to be responsible.

Talking about power window switch, i think Myvi power window switch is one of the useless switch around and mostly failed within 1-2 years of ownership.

Yet, we heard nothing from Perodua….
Yet malaysian still support and buying in bulk… we turn our auto industry to the ‘drain’ level…

The Civic Type R (FD2R) is hydraulic driven dude,i know because i own one,not the common FD2 which is EPS driven. It does not use a hydraulic system as you mentioned bro.

The FD1 is hydraulic driven,so it’s involved in this “product update campaign” for the power steering feed hose.

I must say that this is not looking good for Honda, quite a number of recalls of recent and quite a number of my friends whose Honda cars and of various models were involved in the recent “product update campaign” for their models were less than pleased.Three of my friends had to send their City’s to the dealers to have it’s “lost motion spring” replaced after it broke and messed the cylinder head assembly. The entire cylinder head and the head bolts had to be replaced. Not exactly confidence inspiring since all 3 cars had less then 20k km on the clock..

Thankfully,my Civic Type R does not have any “product update issues”,it better be,at 200k a pop nonetheless. No issues so far, touchwood.

        Cheers.

its the local law issue… there is no such thing as “recall” in Malaysia… they have to use “product update”….. if you look at Honda phylosophy… they love it when things fail… so as to improve from it… thats why honda wants the damaged or premature worn parts… its all in continues improvement

Honda no problem? Honda got a lot of problem…Here is my experience with
      Civic 2.0 2008 Model….3 years plus now :
      1. Put Drive, krik krik sound from undercarriage, common problem, complained to
SC, fix, after 1 year problem came back…a lot of Civic 2.0 has this problem..
      2. Driver side window rubber…in 1st year of use, when put window down, the whole
rubber just came down…SC fixed the problem..
      3. Common problem with driver side suspension or bush…mine happen just 2 months
after warranty expired, turn hard right got kiuk kiuk sound…need to pay to fix…
      4. Passenger side auto lock…got mechanical sound, complained to SC, fixed, so far
      so good…
      5. Passenger seat got ktek ktek vibrating sound, hard to duplicate but damn irratating,
SC could not find issue…note that this is not the seat belt hitting door frame sound,
common Civic problem the seat belt latch will stuck on top and hit the side frame
and make a lot of noise…
      6. When drive 120…car will have whistling sound..ive heard reports that new City also
      got this problem…i send to SC twice…last time at 90 got sound..fix fix..then 100…

Good that they call it for rectification. It is just impossible to have a perfect product. Period.

it’s not alignment issue. I’ve had the same issue. Been to Honda SC to change parts related to power steering hose.. and also the what pump.. (can’t remember)

but.. after rectification – if while driving let go the steering wheel.. surely the car moves to the left side of the road.. no matter how many time you go to wheel alignment center.

Kia recently too recall 2005-2007 Spectra/Cerato due to Fuel System problem.

OMG ! OMG ! it took 6 year for Kia to realised the problem ??

Honda and Toyota doing the honourable thing as to replace
their defective products even after 6 years.
Tell that to Proton who still cannot accept that their power
windows are of no quality and yet they blame their vendors
    rather than take responsibility.
Proton gives you crap and yet the blind Proton supporters think its Emas !!

  • The problem is this recall is coming way too late, I have spend over thousand to repair the Power steering pump and replaced the hose for my FD1, so are they going to refund me the money or what? I believe I’m not the only one here with this problem, many others.

My Jazz is registered on 10/11/2004 and has done only 7000km+ (could be a record in M’sia). It’s our spare car and always park behind another car hence hardly any usage at all. Problem is the left rear window is easy to wind down but very hard to wind up or needing to pull the switch to one side when using the master switch on the driver side. During warranty period I complained but the Service supervisor always say “we have put some lubrication and its not so stiff/sticky now. Then we found out one day after warranty period that the same window just refuse to wind up even though winding down is ok while using the master switch. The switch at the door is perfect. So the master switch is clearly faulty since day one.The unfortunate thing for me is this little fault was not recorded in service history. During the last similar recall they say my year (2004) was not covered. A quote from the Honda dealer for the master switch replacement is RM700.00. Shocking price!! So no deal.
The problem is for this recall it is for Jazz 2005-2007 and my car is missed out again. Any advice you guys?? Just hate Honda……..

Current models are affected by these issues or not can only tell after 2-3 years later since the affected models now only know got problems after 2-3 years later.
Few months ago had made a recall & now recall again.I won’t be surprise if one day Honda decides to close its factory here at Melaka due to all these recalls that have damaged its reputation in quality.

  • got job Honda, still taking care of old model wt this re-call campaign. Warranty claim wise, honda are quite honorable.

They even replaced my steering rack even though its after warranty period, since i did complain about it during warranty period which they had tried to rectify by recalibrating the EPS. Problem persist after warranty, hence they replaced it FOC. (provided u will have to maintain the car at their SC after warranty period expired)

My 2007 Waja Campro, clocked 125000km, all 4 power windows working fine.

Oh ya, this morning, going to work, touch n go at the toll, there’s a Toyota Camry (2004), open its door to pay the toll.

    Pity.

  • I’ve already listed more than 20 problems with my Personal and Gene2 CPS last time. Why no recall until today. What the heck, I already sold both cars.

Kudos to Toyota and Honda and other manufacturers that do recalls. You’re being responsible. “Bukan lepas tangan” mcm sesetengah manufacturer – “tak apa, ini normal, kita ni SKU (syarikat kurang upaya) kalau abang nak kualiti, abang angkat BMW, Merc”.

Protong – the only good news I heard for the past 27 years is about Protong’s “lifetime warranty” for power window which was raised by a taxi man. Pathethic.

I’ve experienced squeeking sounds recently with my Civic 1.8 year 2006 whenever I turn right and got louder recently. Went to Honda Jln 222, P J and was told that I need to replace drive shaft bracket for RM5.5K !. Wosrt case scenario, power steering will become heavy. Now they said recall for part close proximity. For all I know it was due to this bloody defect causing the squeek or indirectly causing the problem. Yet to fix.

    Hi everyone,
I am an owner of a Honda Civic 2006 model. I believe I come under this category of recalls. I was at my service center on Monday this week. I ask if I can get this problem rectified together with my regular service and maintenance. The service personnel says that I cannot perform the recall task because I need to have the letter from Honda informing of the recall.
If I cannot produce the letter, then I cannot send my car in for rectifications. But shouldnt the recall be impacting all cars from 2006 to 2008? Or is Honda Malaysia just selecting a few for the recalls?? What should I do or how should I move forward on getting this rectified?
