Following the success of the Mazda MX-5 GT4 race car in the British GT Championship, Mazda UK and Jota Sport will be building customer race cars to order for the 2013 season.
Mazda UK entered the British GT Championship this year to further develop the MX-5 GT that successfully contested the 2011 Britcar Production GTN Championship, taking on established GT4 race cars from Aston Martin, Ginetta and Lotus.
It may be a development year, but the first outing at the Nurburgring saw the little Mazdas finish fourth and fifth in class. Brands Hatch in June brought the first podium finish for the team. At Snetterton, the MX-5 GT4 finished second, so this is no lemon.
Powered by an MZR 2.0 turbo engine, the MX-5 GT4 produces 320 bhp to haul just 1,000 kg. Built by Jota Sport, it features a fully prepared shell with FIA spec roll cage, carbon fibre doors, front splitter, rear diffuser and rear wing as standard.
Inside, there’s a carbon fibre dash and centre console, Pi Omega D2 display and data logger and a six speed sequential gearbox with paddle shift as standard.
How much? £125,000 (RM617,710) excluding VAT, ready to race. Each car will benefit from technical assistance from Jota and parts supply unforeseen racing accidents. The car will benefit from further development during 2012 and will be a fully homologated car for GT4 racing across the world.

Wah the price tag, 600k for a MX5 is really expensive. But if compared to those supercars, considered cheap.
Great to see an MX5 with fangs. 3sec 0-100 is quite amazing with such low HP. They must have optimise the gear ratios and compromise top speed.
This is a track car. Not road legal. Close ratio box with slicks at just 1000kg will surely give those 0-100 times
available in malaysia?
