Remember the Lexus LF-LC Concept from this year’s Detroit show? After that stunner in red wowed the world and bagged the EyesOn Design Award at NAIAS, a happy Toyota considered making the hybrid 2+2 coupe.
“A decision has not been taken. But we’re now up to a 50% chance from a 0% one. Every top Toyota Motor Company manager is aware of the great reception it has received and now we’re talking about how we can do it and fit it into the product plan,” Lexus product planning chief Karl Schlicht was quoted as saying. It seems like progress has been made, because Lexus will be bringing a “hybrid coupe concept vehicle” to the Australian International Motor Show in October, and reports say that it will be a development of the LF-LC with “more than 370kW” (503 PS) and an all-wheel drive system.
“The Lexus concept is an absolutely stunning vehicle and is set to be one of the drawcards of the show. The concept will highlight Lexus’ design and engineering expertise – marrying design with function to deliver a glimpse into the future of supercars,” said Lexus Australia boss Tony Cramb.
