VIDEO: Typical Malaysian Drivers by JinnyboyTV

Here’s a rather interesting video by JinnyboyTV. The premise of the video is quite simple, it tells of the typical Malaysian driver. It tries to cover all kinds – the typical aunty, the petrol-freak and the ‘P’ driver are just some of the kinds of road-users featured in this video. And when I say featured, I really mean mocked.

Expect some humour and maybe a snicker or two. Also, look out for two girls in a Ford Focus (who loves to call each other ‘babe’) making very questionable gestures. I’ll leave you with that. Enjoy.

Agreed. Seemed fishy. Most likely a poor attempt at a viral Ford Focus ad.

    • This is what I hate about paid write-up. The company will get their staff to thumbs down negative comments even it is right.
For Proton it’s another story. Seems like they have full time staffs just to read comments.

What a cheap way to get people to watch your commercial. Voice command technology is still very far behind. Out of ten words you speak, only less than half can be understood IF YOU ARE LUCKY. 100% of the time you will just pick up your damn phone to type it yourself.

P drivers are really annoying sonetimes. They are either too slow or too freaking fast.Driving schools should be more strict la.

And this video kinda feels like an ad for the new focus too.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
    • and driving school should teach and stress to the P drivers that the right lane is just for overtaking! way too many drivers in malaysia are ignorant of that – they thought as long as they are driving at the max permitted speed limit, they can stay on the right lane and no one is supposed to overtake them.

when uovertake at more than permitted speed means u just againts the law..

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
        • Yes, it is against the law to drive above speed limit and there is no excuse for that, but the rule against hogging the right lane is there for a reason – e.g. some ppl need to speed in cases of emergency etc. Also, can a driver rightfully determine that he is actually driving at the maximum speed limit? No, no driver is in a position to determine the actual velocity of his car – the reading on the speedometer does not always represent the actual velocity of the car (other factors e.g. friction and wind resistance must be taken into account). Hence, with that uncertainty in mind, priority should be given for the car behind you to overtake.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
        • overtaking at the rightmost lane beyond the speed limit = didn’t obey speed limit
driving 110km/h (lets say it’s the speed limit) at the rightmost lane when there’s car wanting to overtake you = didn’t obey the ‘rule’ that rightmost lane is strictly for overtaking only
so there’s no ‘right or wrong’, they obey one, and against the other.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
        • i think you are one of those ‘obedient smart citizen’ who occupied the fast lane which driving maximum speed limit and ignore any signal from the car behind. since you obey the sign board so much please go to the slow lane when u see any sign that stated ‘follow the slow lane if not overtaking’

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  • Some facts u might not know abt Malaysian cars and their drivers.
    1. All windshield came with a cross hair etched into it. When the driver see a pedestrian trying to cross the road or another car coming out of a junction, the driver will line up the target with the cross hair and step furiously on the accelerator.
    2. Light bulbs are the MOST expensive part on Malaysian car. This is why u seldom see Malaysian drivers use their signal indicator when changing lane etc.
    3. U do not need to call names to turn Dr.banner into Bruce here in Malaysia, all u need to do is put him behind the wheel.

  • Let’s take examples from more developed and that have more civilised drivers countries.

If you are driving in Australia, say in Melbourne, even the big bus drives on the right lane – as long as you are driving on the speed limit, you are doing it right. And, there’s no one tailgating and flashing their light asking you to move away – they have law for that!

In the USA, they have minimum speed limit – you can’t drive too slow that you can cause disturbances on the road.

There are virtually no vehicle drives faster than the permitted limit, the best thing is, their speed limits are identical as ours, and some are fluctuated – based on road conditions (they used digital display, LED type board of speed limit).

So, I think if we are driving, that should be the way, after all PUBLIC ROAD IS NOT A RACE TRACK for you to do as you wish. There are race tracks if you want to drive fast, public road is not the place!

Another argument, (in reference to the P driver, and those who feel that driving is a challenge for them), I dont think they should be driving at all. Argument is: If you think driving is a challenge you can endangering others. Public road is not the place to endanger others.

And, I think driving is not human rights that everyone is entitled to. Driving is a privilege that must be earned. The regular offenders, drivers who feels that driving is a challenge for them should not be driving.

And, If the new AES systems are already installed at our highway exits that normally have 50KM/H limit, or in tunnels that normally have 60KM/H limit a lot of people will get summon – everyday, try drive with 10% extra of the limit at these areas and you will see that you are the slowest car – even if you are already 10% above the permitted limit.

Please don’t argue with me about our speed limits are too slow or not appropriate, because the current speed limit is the current law. And I think worldwide (with the exception of few countries) their limit are almost as identical as ours.

Some of Malaysian driver drives as if they want to kill people (that is the perception that I have received from my friend that are visiting from these countries) I think government must act quickly and firmly about this. Personally I think lately there are an increase of number of drivers than drives better than stuntman on our public roads! :)… Of course it will not be a popular move, but I think it must be done because one of the responsibility of the government is to teach, educated and disciplines the rakyat. I think politically the current government is failed to do it effectively. (Ya ya, they are doing it, but they are not effective – simply because there are a lot of people dare enough to do it.)

And lastly, I think we should implement driver point system (like how more developed countries have) you must have an X amount of point to renew your license, and you earned an X amount of point monthly… loose too many point your lisence will be revoked. loose too many point in the same week you will pay money on top of losing points. The point system is already implemented long-long time ago at these countries – we can learn from them.

All I am hoping that our human development is together developed along with our material development. Jangan jadi negara maju tapi rakyat orang zaman jahiliah sudah lah…

The reason why most people don’t use the indicator is because orange color means to speed up.

See traffic light change to orange, tekan minyak.
See the car beside you use indicator, tekan minyak.
