Bangkok 2013: Lexus IS 300h dazzles on the stand

Lexus IS 300h

Seoul wasn’t the only place the spindle-grilled third-gen Lexus IS showed up this week – the IS 300h takes pride of place on Lexus’ Bangkok show stand.

UPDATE: The new Lexus IS is now launched in Malaysia. Click here for our launch report and pics.

The first ever IS model with a hybrid drivetrain is offered in Luxury and Premium variants in the Kingdom, priced respectively at 2.99 million (RM316k) and 3.49 million baht (RM369k). The non-hybrid IS 250 F Sport goes for 3.99 million baht (RM422k).

In the IS 300h, an electric motor joins forces with a new 2AR-FSE 2.5 litre four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine (equipped with D-4S fuel injection, Dual VVT-i and Exhaust Gas Recirculation) to give a total system output of 223 PS.

Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are quoted at under 4.3 litres per 100 km and 113 grams per km respectively. The battery pack is located underneath the boot floor, and so boot capacity is 450 litres, 30 litres less than the non-hybrid IS.

  • I am sure with 2.5 L we still get the tax benefit. Look at bmw 3 hydrid, compared to price of 335i – 400k vs 490k. Also price of 5h vs 535i. They all 3L
