SPYSHOTS: Audi Q7 shows off its LED headlamps

Spy-Shots of Cars

Seen here in this latest set of spyshots is the next generation Audi Q7 featuring full-LED Matrix headlamps. The headlamps should be optional, with previously sighted projector xenons installed as standard.

The new Q7 is set to adopt Audi’s new rectilinear design direction first seen on the new TT, featuring the company’s trapezoidal single-frame grille as well as razor-sharp head- and tail lights. Its wing mirrors are now mounted on the door panels themselves, presumably for less wind noise.

Underneath the skin is a variation of the VW Group’s modular MLB architecture for longitudinal layouts – dubbed MLB Evo. The platform allows for some weight reduction – we hear it’s likely to lose over 300 kg.

We expect the next-generation Q7 to mirror the petrol engine options available on the Audi A8, which means a 3.0 TFSI V6 engine as a baseline for the petrol, with a 4.0 TFSI V8 next up the rung, replacing the 4.2 FSI engine in the current Q7. Oil burner options will start with a 3.0 TDI.

I’m beginning to see more Q7’s on the road now possibly cheaper to have a grey import now since I can see some going for RM300k+ which is quite a bargain for such a big SUV but the interior is really old now.

LED lights are not suitable for tropical countries. Use them in the rain is as good as not having any headlights on.

High time they design a LED that can automatically change Kelvin color depending on the weather, rain or snow.
