Mercedes-AMG A 45 leaked; to have up to 400 PS?

Mercedes-AMG A 45

The 2016 Mercedes-AMG A 45 facelift appears to have been leaked, through a picture of a print ad posted on Instagram. If proved to be legit (it looks very much so), this gives us a peek at the updated uber hatch ahead of its planned official reveal.

So what’s new? The entire front bumper looks to have been changed, with the lower air intakes now mirroring the more rounded “A-wing” design featured on AMG’s latest C 63, E 63 and CLS 63 models. The headlights look to have been upgraded to full-LED units too.

Changes under the hood are even more interesting. The original poster suggests that the standard version will have its power output bumped to 381 PS, up from the current model’s 360 PS. Standard version? Yup, as apparently, there will be an A 45 S model with 400 PS under the hood!

If accurate, Mercedes-AMG will reclaim the hot hatch power crown back from the 367 PS Audi RS 3. An even 400 PS, however, may soon be matched by the upcoming Volkswagen Golf R 400. Now who says the horsepower race is over among German carmakers?

    • My bad. Its on the front page if you switch to desktop, but its not in the article. The mobile theme isn’t helping.

i believe mercedez realised that when it first launched the A45 was the most powerful 2.0 litre production engine – that Mitsubishi had done it with Lancer Evolution FQ360 and FQ400 some 7-8 years back. only for UK, but still production car nonetheless.
