GIIAS 2015: Ceweks of the Jakarta motor show, Part 2

GIIAS-Ceweks-PT2

You thought that was it, didn’t you? But no, photographer Sherman Sim got a little too carried away (not that we’re complaining!) and handed over 250 images of the ceweks of the 2015 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). You know what they say about having too much of a good thing, so we had to split the gallery post into two parts.

To recap, the show endorsed by Gaikindo (Gabungan Industri Kendaraan Bermotor Indonesia, the country’s equivalent of our Malaysian Automotive Association) was held at the new and very large Indonesia Convention Centre (ICE) in BSD City.

Over 10 days (August 20-30), GIIAS attracted 451,654 visitors, surpassing the organiser’s target of 380k. A total of 17,077 vehicles valued at Rp 5,455,846,113,009 (that’s 5.4 trillion rupiah or RM1.6 billion) were sold at the show.

Honda BR-V premiere Indonesia 45

Away from numbers, the show’s main draw was the world debut of the Honda BR-V, a seven-seater budget SUV that will be coming to Malaysia – full details here.

There were also a few interesting concept cars with local input – Toyota Yaris Legian, Yaris Heykers and Daihatsu’s FX and FT SUV concepts. We also showed you special audiophile editions of the Honda HR-V and CR-V, tuned by JBL and Fender respectively.

Also captured were the just-launched Suzuki Ertiga facelift and Daihatsu Xenia facelift MPVs (the latter’s new Dual VVT-i engine coming to Perodua next year), the fourth-gen Lexus RX, Mazda 2 Limited Edition, Hyundai Grand i10 X, Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S500 and three charming JDM kei cars from Daihatsu.

That’s it for this year. Enjoy the pics after the jump.
