Lotus Elise S, Elise 220 Cup, Exige S, Exige S Club Racer now in new colours – one-offs, special prices

Five new Lotus Cars are arriving on our shores soon – stay tuned! #LotusCarsMalaysia #PureDriving

Lotus Cars Malaysia has announced on its Facebook page that certain models in the range will now be available in new colours. Sources in the company have confirmed that the Lotus Elise S, Lotus Elise 220 Cup and the Lotus Exige S now come in new hues, and the company is also introducing the Lotus Exige S Club Racer in the country.

Bear in mind that only one unit of each new colour will be brought in initially, at a specially discounted price. This will automatically make this particular Exige S CR the only one in the country, although it is said that those interested in the model will be able to order one later. All five cars are slated to arrive on our shores by the end of October.

Let’s start with the cheapest ones, shall we? Two special Elise S models will be made available – the Metallic White unit is fitted with a couple of option packs, namely the Sports Pack with sports seats, Bilstein dampers and a Sports mode for the Lotus Dynamic Performance Management (DPM) system, as well as the Black Pack styling kit. It retails at RM267,888 on-the-road without insurance, RM12,000 cheaper than a standard Elise S without options.

The Metallic Black Elise S unit will be a fair bit more expensive, specced with the Sports Pack as well as a Touring Pack that throws in leather upholstery. This will set you back RM277,888 – that’s still RM2,000 less than the standard model.

Do note, however, that there is an even cheaper Elise sold in Malaysia, called the Elise GREAT Britain. It comes with Union Jack decals and a Sport Pack-Black Pack combo with black forged wheels, Bilstein sport dampers and a darkened rear diffuser on the outside. Inside, a lightweight centre console and sport seats trimmed in black fabric are featured as part of the aforementioned combination. Also part of the pack is a Sport mode for increased throttle response. This one retails at just RM254,888.

Next up is the Elise 220 Cup, specially-ordered in a retina-searing Toxic Green. It too comes with a fair few option boxes ticked, including a Race Pack, Performance Induction Kit and Tow Eye Kit, and is yours for RM329,888, over RM16k less than a similarly-kitted standard car.

Both the Elise S and 220 Cup are powered by the same mid-mounted 1.8 litre VVT-i supercharged four-cylinder engine with 217 hp at 6,800 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, but the latter is said to lap the company’s Hethel test track up three seconds faster, thanks to the more aggressive aerodynamic addenda.

Trading up, we come to the Metallic Orange Exige S Coupe Automatic, coming with the Premium Sport Pack that adds black leather seats with silver stitching, along with a Race Pack including a Race mode for the DPM, an exhaust bypass valve override switch and an optimised suspension setup; rear parking sensors are still optional, mind. This one goes for RM426,777, a saving of more than RM6k over the regular model without options.

Lastly, there’s the ultimate Exige S, the Club Racer in Matte Black. It weighs 15 kg less than the standard Exige S, thanks to a lighter battery, centre console, doors and sport seats, Elsewhere, CR decals dot the car inside and out, and the DPM also features a Race setting as standard.

As is a theme with the rest of these cars, the sole unit coming here incorporates some options, including a CD/MP3/WMA player with four speakers, an NVH pack with front footwell mats and rear parking sensors. Priced at RM419,777, the CR is cheaper than the regular Exige S models by some margin.

Both Exige models are powered by a 3.5 litre supercharged VVT-i V6 engine with 345 hp at 7,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, but the Exige S Automatic, like its name suggests, is fitted a six-speed automatic transmission, while the Club Racer is only available with a six-speed close-ratio manual.

See the gap between high and low end Proton! You need to pay DAMN A LOT to get a better Proton; else continue bear with junk then.

      Generally,
      1 Lexus = 2 Toyota
      1 Audi = 2 VW
      but 1 Lotus = 8 Proton

Keep on love and kiss your Proton then. Keep it up!

  • “we come to the Metallic Orange Elise S Coupe Automatic”
Should’ve been “Exige” instead of “Elise”

Is Lotus planning to bring in and sell the Detroit electric SP:01 EV since it’s basically an electric elise? Join venture perhaps? That would be great… small, electric… test the market.

After the Proton Saga, this Elise has to be the car that keeps coming out with different variants, special editions and name calling, but essentially is still the same car. Yamn….
