Kia has introduced the new Mohave in Korea – the Absolute Mohave, as it’s known as in its domestic market, is essentially a facelift for the SUV, which is known as the Borrego in North America. Revisions to the Mohave – which made its market debut in 2008 -include new HID headlamps and LED tail lights, as well as resculpted bumpers.
Inside, aside from the added plush brought about by improved trim and material, changes include new convenience features and driving assist/safety kit – the Absolute has, among other things, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, ESC and a bird’s-eye view, four cameras system. It rides on 18-inch wheels wrapped with 265/60 series tyres.
The Absolute Mohave, which measures in at 4,940 mm long, 1,91 mm wide and 1,810 mm tall, is powered by a S 3.0 litre V6 turbodiesel unit, and figures for the Euro 6-compliant oil burner are 260 PS at 3,800 rpm and 559 Nm of twist from 1,500 to 3,000 rpm, and the unit is paired with an eight-speed auto transmission.
The domestic website lists a total of three five-seat and three seven-seat variants, each available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive guise. Two interior trim combinations and five exterior colours are available for the big SUV.
