Mercedes-Benz A250 Motorsport Edition – RM257k

As reported before, here is the new Mercedes-Benz A 250 Motorsport Edition. Priced at RM256,888 (OTR without insurance), the special variant will only be available in very limited numbers, so you best hurry along if you want one.

Essentially, the A 250 Motorsport Edition here adds several styling and aerodynamic items to the W176 A 250 Sport variant, which is priced at RM238,888. So, what do you get for the extra RM18k? Here’s a closer look at the additional items.

As you can tell, the prime highlight here is the Motorsport Edition’s petrol green colour scheme, which is a nod to the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team’s colours. An exterior Aerodynamics package is also prominent, introducing aero flics to the front and rear, and a large rear wing.

Larger 19-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels are specified here, being a size larger than the A 250 Sport’s 18-inch rollers. Additionally, the Motorsport Edition gets a Night Package kit, which adds a high-gloss black belt line trim.

Inside, the A 250 Motorsport Edition exchanges the A 250 Sport’s AMG Line red highlights and trim for petrol green-coloured items. The sports seats are upholstered in black leather/Dinamica microfibre with a green decorative strip. The green topstitching extends to the new leather-covered dashboard, flat-bottomed steering wheel and door cards – not even the seat belts are safe from it.

Elsewhere, the A 250 Motorsport Edition and the A 250 Sport variants are very much identical to each other. On the outside, both cars get LED High Performance headlamps, a diamond radiator grille with chrome pins and AMG Line styling. Inside, the Motorsport Edition shares the A 250 Sport’s equipment and features, including an Audio 20 CD media system, an eight-inch display screen, a reverse camera and an Active Parking Assist system.

Just like the A 250 Sport, the A 250 Motorsport Edition features the same 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, delivering an equal 211 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Courtesy of the updated 7G-DCT dual-clutch auto transmission, the variant sprints from zero to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds now (formerly 6.6 seconds), and has a top speed of 240 km/h. Its AMG-tuned sports suspension is also present.

“Available in very limited numbers to commemorate the success of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team, the special Motorsport Edition will particularly appeal to local racing fans in Malaysia,” said Mark Raine, VP of sales and marketing Passenger Cars, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

Once again, the A 250 Motorsport Edition is priced at RM256,888 (OTR without insurance), with only limited units available for sale – MBM has not specified how many. Available body colours include cirrus white, cosmos black, polar silver and mountain grey – the magno (matte) grey finish doesn’t appear available.
