New Lexus NX 300 to slot between 200t and 300h?

In trademark filings with the United States Patent and Trademark office, it appears that Lexus is planning to introduce a new NX 300 variant. Currently, the NX range in the US consists of the NX 200t and NX 300h, similar to what is offered here in Malaysia.

The trademark, which was filed on March 25, 2016, was done by Toyota officials for use on “automobiles and structural parts thereof.” However, as it is just a naming trademark, no details on the possible variant is provided.

Lexus NX 300 trademark

Expect the NX 300 to be motivated by a 3.5 litre V6 lifted from the US-market IS 300. In the sedan, the mill provides 255 hp and 320 Nm of torque. That is more than the NX 300h’s 2.5-liter inline-four and electric motor combo, which has a combined output of 194 hp, and the 200t’s 2.0 litre inline turbo-four (235 hp and 350 Nm).

Should Lexus introduce the NX 300, it is yet unknown if the new variant will be positioned between the NX 200t and NX 300h, or as the model’s range-topper. Nonetheless, is a more powerful NX a tempting prospect?

Toyota/Lexus never change on delivering reliable, fuel saving, comfortable and good RV cars. Our models still the most expensive in used car market.

Such low performance numbers for a big engine. This is Lexus’ trademark. Their buyers always regret but keep comparing their Lexus With German cars. Funny how German car owners never compare theirs with Lexus.
