The Datsun redi-GO was last seen in 2014 as a concept at the Delhi Auto Expo. Now, a teaser of the production Datsun redi-GO has been released. The mini compact car will officially make its world premiere on April 14, next week, according to Indian Autos Blog.
Seen in a black and white picture, the image showcases the silhouette of the redi-GO. From the looks of it, not much has changed. The four-door compact still sports a hexagonal grille and a set of sleek headlamps and heightened ground clearance.
It remains to be seen as to whether the LED daytime running lights and taillamps will be carried over or offered as an optional item for that matter.
The redi-GO is the second car to be built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A platform, after the Renault Kwid. The difference however, is that the platform has been localised and utilises frugal engineering to ensure that costs are kept low.
Underneath, the redi-GO compact will reportedly come with a 0.8 litre SCe engine that can also be found in the Renault Kwid. The unit produces a total of 54 PS and 74 Nm of torque and will be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Said gearbox is said to have been retuned for shorter ratios in first and second gear to provide for faster pickup. Meanwhile, a 1.0 diesel mill is also said to be in the works and will be introduced at a later stage.
