SPIED: Aston Martin Vantage GT8 testing on track

Aston Martin Vantage GT8 spyshots-02

About a week ago, a teaser was released showing what appears to be the silhouette of a special edition Aston Martin Vantage. Now, spy photographers have captured the Aston Martin Vantage GT8 testing on the Nurburgring.

Based on the V8 Vantage, the lightweight GT8 appears to sport a smaller rear wing than the V12-powered GT12, an extended front spoiler along with a redesigned rear diffuser. Compared to the GT12, the air outlets on the front fender and rear brake cooling ducts are missing.

The Vantage GT8 is expected to shed a total of 80 kg, compared to the V8 Vantage, which weighs in at 1,610 kg. The GT8 will utilise carbon-fibre, titanium, aluminium and magnesium in revised components.

With that, the GT8 will likely see its 4.7 litre V8 engine tweaked to provide about 430 hp or an increase of about 15 to 20 hp. The engine, could very well be mated to Aston Martin’s seven-speed manual (with a dog-leg first gear position) or a seven-speed Sportshift II automated-manual transmission instead.

With the combination (less weight, enhanced aerodynamics and power), it’s safe to expect that the Vantage GT8 to do 0-100 km/h in under 4.9 seconds – the existing time that’s delivered by the V8 Vantage.

As for production, the Vantage GT8 is said to be limited to 150 units only, out of which, 40 will be sold in the UK. Price-wise, the GT8 is expected to carry a price tag of approximately £170,000 to £200,000 (RM942k to RM1.1 million).
