This is the Isuzu D-Max Arctic Trucks AT35. Based on the pre-facelift D-Max, it’s a new variant that will be added to the brand’s UK line-up. To be offered in both double cab and extended cab configurations, the D-Max will go on sale in late spring 2016, priced from £30,995 (RM177,635)
A team effort from both Isuzu and Arctic Trucks, the D-Max features a re-engineered suspension with Fox Performance Series shocks for better mobility over rutted tracks and boulders. The ride height has been increased, and is now 125 mm higher compared to the standard D-Max.
For better off-road capability and to tackle slippery conditions, the truck is fitted with 35-inch all-terrain Nokian Rotiiva AT tyres wrapped around 17-inch wheels. The exterior comes with extended fender flares to give the AT35 a more muscular appearance.
To kit up the D-Max even more, a few exterior options can be specified. These include an Arctic Trucks sports bar in black or silver, 4.5-inch Vision X LED cannon and 6.7-inch Vision X LED nine-diode or 18 diode-lamp in either black or chrome. An Arctic Trucks Truxedo tonneau cover for the cargo bed is also available.
Exterior extras for off-roading include a 27-LED square work light with Arctic Trucks logo, skid plate under the radiator and engine and another skid plate under the engine and gearbox, an ARB inflator with gauge as well as a pump-up emergency inflation kit.
Inside, standard items include a six-speaker audio package with ‘Exciter’ speaker in the roof lining, iPod/USB/Bluetooth connectivity, heated and folding door mirrors and a leather steering wheel with audio and cruise control buttons. The double-cab comes with a full leather upholstery and automatic climate control, while a Pioneer audio system is available as an option.
Elsewhere, there are no changes to the AT35’s chassis and the engine. The D-Max in the UK is powered by a 2.5 litre CRDi twin-turbo diesel engine which produces 163 PS and 400 Nm of torque. The AT35 is offered with a five-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.
