2017 Yamaha FZ-10 US-spec MT-10 - 34

Pending the launch of the 2017 Yamaha FZ-10 this weekend in North Carolina, US, Yamaha Motors has issued a gallery of the US-specification 2017 FZ-10 – known to Europe and the rest of the world as the 2016 Yamaha MT-10.

Carrying a differently tuned version of the Yamaha YZF-R1 Crossplane 4 engine, the MT-10 produces a claimed 158 hp at 11,500 rpm and 111 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm from its four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, compared to the 200 hp and 112.4 Nm from the YZF-R1 in European trim.

Apart from the engine, the MT-10 also shares a whole host of electronics from its racier sibling, including traction control, rider modes, cruise control, slipper clutch and LCD instrumentation. The MT-10 also features fully-adjustable Kayaba suspension, as well as the chassis and swing-arm carried over from the YZF-R1.

According to Yamaha, the FZ-10/MT-10 will also have a full range of Yamaha-branded accessories available, in order to adapt the naked sportsbike for a variety of roles, including commuting, sports touring and fast riding.

According to the Yamaha US website, the 2017 Yamaha MT-10 will retail for 12,999 USD (RM52,762), which will put it up directly against other nakeds such as the BMW S1000R, Kawasaki Z-1000, Suzuki GSX-S1000 and Triumph’s up-coming Speed Triple R.
