Russian automaker AvtoVAZ has debuted the Lada XCODE Concept at the 2016 Moscow Motor Show, and as the view suggests, the days of boring, square boxes being the associated term are well gone. The swing to stylish has been around for a bit now, the revolution being led by the Vesta sedan and XRAY SUV.

The XCODE – styled under the supervision of AvtoVAZ design director Steve Mattin – is the latest form to come about. Incorporating lessons and elements from the Vesta and XRAY, the study is meant to highlight the development possibilities for the Lada model line-up.

The automaker, part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, has said that there are no plans for a production XCODE version as yet, but AutoExpress reports that the vehicle is most likely to be developed as a more expensive sibling to the recently-introduced XRAY, which sits in between B-segment SUVs and larger offerings such as the Nissan Qashqai.

No technical details, but it’s surmised that the vehicle – which is likely underpinned by the Renault-Nissan B0 platform utilised on many of the alliance’s offerings – will offer four-wheel drive and turbocharging. Inside, the XCODE study features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster as part of its equipment list.

Softer looking Mitsubishi XM Concept (come on, the x front fascia pattern and the yellow color is already obvious) with Focus hatchback slapped at the butt. Interesting, but won’t come here as Lada is strictly LHD only.
