Remember that lovely Renault Clio RS 16 concept that was unveiled at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix? Well, it appears the French carmaker could very well look to introduce a road-going version soon, according to these spyshots.
Visually, the test mule looks almost identical to the black development car shown in the Clio RS 16 concept’s press photos. Therefore, it doesn’t get the LED lights on the front bumper, which are arranged following the Renault Sport motif. Similarly, the wide body kit, which sees an additional 60 mm in width on the yellow show car, isn’t fitted here.
However, expect the finished product to feature those missing bits, along with the same 19-inch wheels and large rear wing seen here. The production Clio RS 16 is also expected to feature the same engine found in the concept – a 2.0 litre turbo unit with 275 hp and 360 Nm.
The mill comes from the Megane RS 275 Trophy-R wholesale, so the six-speed manual and limited-slip differential are part of the powertrain setup. On the concept, you’ll find an Akrapovic twin exhaust system which isn’t seen on this prototype. Rumours suggest that Renault will introduce the Clio RS 16 in limited numbers, with claims of 500- or 250-unit run.
