Volkswagen has come up with a video showing its new Arteon on the move. The car, which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show last week, is a definite looker, a great follow-up act to the elegant CC.

The coupe-like sedan, which will sit between the current B8 Passat and the China-only Phideon in the scheme of things, essentially carries over most of the styling cues from the Sport Coupe Concept GTE of two years ago. It’s certainly not a wallflower.

At point of introduction, the Arteon will be offered in three trim levels, a baseline, Elegance and range-topping R-Line. Engine choices will be two petrol units and a diesel, with different states of output tunes on call making it six variations in total.

The petrol mills start with a 150 PS 1.5 litre TSI Evo, also seen in the new Golf Mk 7 facelift, followed by a 2.0 litre TSI in two output levels – 190 PS and 280 PS. The solitary oil burner is a 2.0 litre TDI, in 150 PS, 190 PS and 240 PS forms. In terms of transmission pairing, the baseline units feature a six-speed manual, while a seven-speed DSG is standard fit on models higher up the line.

With looks like this, it’s no surprise to hear VW say that the car will be heading to just about every market relevant to this vehicle class. The Arteon, which will be assembled at the automaker’s Emden plant, will begin selling in Germany from June.
