The facelifted Volvo V40 has been launched in Malaysia, arriving in a sole T5 Inscription variant, and is the focus of our new walk-around video. Priced at RM180,888 on-the-road without insurance, the new V40 gains a few aesthetic updates to match some its newer siblings.

The most noticeable are the brand’s “Thor’s Hammer” daytime running lights that are part of the V40’s LED headlights. There’s also a redesigned Iron Mark logo fitted to the new Inscription grille, along with the car’s sensors for its active safety systems. Also part of the getup are a set of 17-inch ‘Sarpas’ diamond-cut alloy wheels finished in silver and wrapped with 225/45 tyres.

Inside, the dash inlay has been replaced with a Milled Aluminium finish from the previous Shimmer Graphite. New ‘Inscription’ tread plates have also been added, and the updated Iron Mark can be seen in other interior bits (steering wheel, Sensus display and key fob).

The V40 is powered by a Drive-E T5 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 245 hp and 350 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,800 rpm. The mill is mated to an Aisin-sourced eight-speed torque converter automatic, with drive going to the front wheels.
