In June 2017, Lexus Malaysia opened the order books for the Lexus LC 500, which had a price tag of RM940,000 on-the-road without insurance. Now, the brand’s flagship luxury coupe has been sighted for the first time in Malaysia ahead of its official launch debut.

The LC 500 is powered by a 5.0 litre naturally-aspirated V8 that serves up 471 hp and 540 Nm, with drive going to the rear wheels via a Direct Shift 10-speed automatic gearbox. This allows it to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in under 4.5 seconds, and hit a top speed of 270 km/h.

Underpinned by the new Lexus Global Architecture – Luxury (GA-L), the LC’s platform employs a mix of materials – high-strength steel, aluminium and carbon fibre – in its construction. Meanwhile, the bodyshell, which features plenty high-tensile steel, provides higher torsional rigidity than even the LFA‘s carbon structure.

On the mention of the LFA, the LC’s interior has a few nods to the ear-pleasing, V10-powered supercar, specifically the rotating dial controls on the sides of the instrument cluster. Elsewhere, the LC features plenty of leather and other premium materials that are meticulously put together by Lexus’ famous Takumi master craftsmen.

This includes the car’s stunning exterior, which remains faithful to the LF-LC concept that was revealed way back in 2012. As a bit of trivia, the LC is built at the Motomachi plant in Japan, the same factory where the LFA was produced.
