First launched in Malaysia in front-wheel drive guise only, the Renault Koleos range has now been expanded to include a new four-wheel drive variant. The Koleos 2.5L 4WD is available at an estimated price of RM201,800 on-the-road without insurance, and comes with five-year/unlimited mileage warranty and complimentary one-year RENCARE Roadside Assistance membership.
Powering the Koleos 2.5L 4WD is the familiar 2.5 litre QR25DE naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with 171 PS and 226 Nm, which is identical to the one used on the 2WD variant. The mill is paired with an X-Tronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), with drive going through the SUV’s All-Mode 4×4-i four-wheel drive system.
Drivers will have three modes to choose from – 2WD, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock – and they can be cycled through via switch to the right of the steering wheel. The first mode (2WD) allows the Koleos to run in front-wheel drive in the interest of keeping fuel consumption down.
In 4WD Auto, the system monitors both longitudinal and lateral acceleration, as well as yaw rates and steering angles to determine the ideal front/rear torque split (from 100:0 to 50:50) to provide the maximise grip and minimise understeer or oversteer. Lastly, 4WD Lock is best used when traversing more demanding terrain like mud and sand, with the system engaging permanent four-wheel drive at speeds of less than 40 km/h to distribute available torque equally between the front and rear axles (50:50) for maximum stability.
In terms of equipment, the Koleos 2.5L 4WD is nearly identical to the 2WD variant, except with the addition of a hands-free power tailgate. Standard items include full-LED Pure Vision headlights, 18-inch ‘Argonaute’ alloy wheels, 8.7-inch colour touchscreen, R-Link 2 infotainment system, 7-inch colour TFT instrument display, leather upholstery, powered driver’s seat (with lumbar adjustment) and dual-zone automatic climate control (with rear air-con vents).
Similarly, the comprehensive safety kit continues to include six airbags (dual front, side and curtain), Isofix child seat anchors, ESP, traction control, ABS (with EBD and BA), all-round parking sensors, rear view camera, blind spot warning and hill start assist.
Customers will also get to choose from five body colours – Universal White, Grey Metallic, Black Metallic, Meissen Blue and Marron Red – the last being an option exclusive to the Koleos 2.5L 4WD. To repeat, the Koleos 2.5L 4WD has an estimated price of RM201,800, which is a RM19,000 premium over the Koleos 2.5L 2WD. The front-wheel drive version is priced at RM182,800 (up from the RM172,800 during its launch).

With Honda’s CRV offering with it’s suite of safety features and turbo engine and not to mention with a lower price than this one, I fear for the sales of Koleos.
But rest assured this use Jepunis overlord engine too.. the one we have in Nissan so spare parts and reliability should be ok.
I think if you park this Koleous beside any SUV, its look will beat most Japs/Koreans including BMW I dare say.
The interior are on par if not exceed most Japs/Koreans in terms of quality & space not to mention the techs & safety.
The engine is Normal Aspirated(NA) meaning Normal(not exciting enough) hence people prefer more power by turbo charging.
So why is the Renault brand in particular this Koleos not selling in numbers in M’sia?? Is it because of the price?! At RM200,000 – it is priced out of reach of most M’sian.
There you have it. This is a SUV for above average joe who earn more than RM8,000 family who does not care if the Resale Value are Zero after 5 years.
Why buy this?? Because its unique, its rare, not many people drive one & dare to be different. Any takers please go to the showroom to buy one & be the envy of many M’sian.
Sorento, best value for money.
Dare to be different & be the envy.
yes, i vote for the sorento….but must be the diesel 2.2 version, very powerful, frugal & reliable engine….and stay away from the sorento 2.4 petrol, thats a guzzler & under powered!
Even you can hardly see the 2wd version on our roads, now comes the 4wd with this pricing? Incredible.
I thought there will be a promotion or a price drop for the 2wd version. Sigh

200k SUV without the latest safety tech??? Not even active cruise control? Good luck to all the sales people!!! If you can sell 1 unit per month is considered really good! New pajero sport with turbo diesel and 8 speed gearbox is coming soon and the top specs will include similar safety features like Honda Sensing. Who wanna buy this 4wd wannabe???
They have been talking about the Pajero Sports for a very long time now. Will it ever make it to Malaysia with all its specs intact. In Australia, during a recent test, it was concluded that the Pajero Sports can Out perform a 2.8 diesel Fortuner! If this is true, then surely I will opt for a pajero!
Had to admit it gt the looks but im afraid its still not worth the price tag. Nice colour btw
Just buy the X-trail if going for 2.5. If want to save on road tax and petrol, go for the 2017 CRV 1.5 turbo. Save more on fuel, get a
Fortuner diesel…
Give also don’t want..
Pls remove the guy whose blocking the car and maybe if they could reduce the price by 50%, that would be great and ya thanks!
