Six months after the G30 BMW 5 Series was introduced in Malaysia in fully-imported (CBU) form, the locally-assembled version (CKD) has finally arrived. The executive sedan continues to be offered in a single 530i M Sport variant but gets a RM10,000 price drop, retailing at RM388,800 on-the-road without insurance.
As far as kit count is concerned, it loses out on adaptive cruise control with stop and go, but otherwise standard equipment remains identical to the CBU model. On the outside, that means you get the full M Sport appearance package, plus adaptive LED headlights with auto high beam, LED fog lights, 19-inch double-spoke style 664 M alloy wheels, M Sport brakes with blue callipers and BMW Individual satin aluminium trim.
Other items on the list include Comfort Access keyless entry, power-adjustable front sports seats with driver’s side memory, four-zone automatic climate control, a glass sunroof, sunblinds for the rear side windows (manual) and rear windscreen (electric), 11-colour ambient lighting, a powered tailgate with kick-activated hands-free operation and M Sport suspension with Dynamic Damper Control.
You also get the upgraded Professional navigation system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and gesture control, along with a full 12.3-inch multifunction instrument display, a reverse camera, Park Assistant for automated parallel and perpendicular parking manoeuvres and a 16-speaker, 600 watt Harman Kardon surround sound system. The touchscreen-equipped Display Key is also retained.
Safety-wise, the CKD 530i M Sport comes with the Driving Assistant package that adds Approach Control Warning and Person Warning with City Brake function, operating at speeds between 10 km/h and 60 km/h for pedestrians and 80 km/h for vehicles. Other features included in the pack include Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning, rear collision prevention and rear crossing traffic warning.
The B48 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder engine remains, producing 252 hp from 5,200 to 6,500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,450 and 4,800 rpm. All that is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission, resulting in a zero to 100 km/h sprint time of 6.2 seconds, as well as fuel consumption of 5.5 litres per 100 km combined and carbon dioxide emissions of 126 grams per kilometre.
Buyers can choose between Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect, Alpine White, Mediterranean Blue and the new Carbon Black Metallic and Bluestone Metallic exterior colours, while black (with contrasting blue stitching) or Cognac Dakota leather upholstery feature inside. A five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty, a five-year free service package and a two-year tyre warranty are included.

CKD just RM10k cheaper? How come?
Doesn’t matter anyway, for this generation more will go for the E Class instead.
BMW 530e RM348k.
My s90 can smoke this one grade lower car easily. After one year, this G30 will sell at half its price at second hand market.
Sime Darby BMW gips Guaranteed RV Scheme.
Volvo is at least 2 category below beemer and benz.
Mercedes in european countries is use as Taxis, limousines and Uber cars , So definitely is three level below Volvo and Jaguar
BMW can seen use by thieves or robberies or drug pushers , pimps so it is definitely classified as one of the black market car level . In this regards , Volvo and jaguar still standout better and higher level than BMW in perceptions
>Drop a bit, complaint expensive
>Drop a lot, complaint no RV
Malaysian. Want cheap but want RV. Even if buying conti. Kek.
Deswai gomen sapott Tesla.
fact is better dont buy low RV car like Peugeot, Volvo, Alfa in Malaysia
Also better not buy poor and crap resale value car from Audi, BMW ,VW , Mercedes too !!!
DK you still cannot afford, cheap or not
ckd buat apa macam ini?
Shut up n get a life!
ckd S90 T8 gooder
no, u must understand. BMW profit margin naik lah. some more losing start/stop function and cruise control.
For the intermediaries to earn more, just as simple and true as that.
For those who’s not in on the plot, the price will be dropped further once they get the EEV status. That’s why the CKD price isn’t that different from the CBU. Otherwise early buyers will get mad like what happened with Mercedes.
so if you wanna save some bucks, wait for EEV status, price should go down by 20k or so. those who get EEV will then be pissed off when the 530e PHEV comes in CKD and then it’s even below rm350k.
this is their last price. The cbu 530i is a bargain already. so they can only reduce it a bit
Pre-owned 5Series coming soon.
Isnt ckd supposed to add kit count and reduce the price…
this is cut throat pricing…
they removed the autonomous driving but kept the safety.
390k. Better buy double storey in Puchong..
Honda = the power of dream
BMW = the power of BMW Malaysia
rm10k cheaper minus the adaptive cruise…that adaptive option would have cost rm10k…so ckd actually no price reduction in term of tax..but due to less accessories.
No thanks. Take my 10k n gimme back my cbu
Wait for 530E!
When the 530e arrived, this will be cheaper.
Maybe just buy the top of the line T8 S90 for RM348,888 including EEV incentives. Saves you RM41K.
Cheaper but lower class also. Buyer choice
Mercedes even worst and more LOWER CLASS cos use as taxis, limousines and uberS in Europe.
BMW becomes a junk and no class at all after three years of usage. The design does not look evergreen and instantly becomes dated then.
S90 CBU is not cheap and cos more to buy than BMW 530i, So the S90 CKD version is good value with saving and thus higher level and better looking design than this lower class BMW.
Cannot stop me from thinking BMW is lower class than Volvo currently.
adaptive cruise with stop n go. Very useful function in the city. it is gone now.
Good luck, beemer.
Volvo > all
You mean volvo > all when it come to car problems
Better buy Volvo less problem
BMW , Audi, VW are all craps with more problems compare to Volvo
Wait, 10k cheaper but you’re taking off adaptive cruise control?
Janji dichapati…
Make Honda, Proton, BMW, Volvo and Mercedes Benz win-win, everyone happy except for Perodua and Volkswagen
Come on BMW Malaysia u can do better than this. All the while the ckd model will add the kit count. I was expecting a 20k drop while adding back HUD.
Pre-reg bro prereg..
Luckily I got the CBU version. RM10k drop for CKD is pathetic. Wait till January 2018, there’ll be a lot of pre reg going for RM350k or so. Hybrid 530e should be out next year for also about RM530k with HUD etc
Errr i wait the CKD version cause wants they add comfort seats with ventilated, air fragrance, 360 camera, and massaging driver seat. BUT they removed the adaptive cruise control? Nooo
I dont know why BMW is taking malaysians for a ride. They remove the equipment and reduce the price. WTH!
For god sake it is CKD, hence less TAX. By right they should give more (could have throw in HUD) and reduce the price by atleast 20k.
Those who want to get 5 series, just go for the CBU.
Everyone knows the 399K CBU was an introductory promotional price.
it should at least retain all the options of the CBU at that price, but 10k less with adaptive cruise control gone?
