Subaru WRX STI S208 debuts – 450 units, Japan only

At the previous edition of the Tokyo Motor Show, Subaru unveiled the WRX STI S207, which was a limited-run, high-performance version of the WRX STI. It was limited to just 400 units and sold exclusively in Japan.

This time around, Subaru plans to do exactly the same thing with the WRX STI S208, although production has been bumped up to 450 units. Details and the exact specifications have not been revealed just yet, but Subaru promises better engine output, styling enhancements inside and out as well as several other “significant changes.” One such example is that the roof is now entirely made of carbon-fibre, which shaves off weight and lowers the centre of gravity. Suspension upgrades are to be expected as well.

The Subaru WRX STI S208 is scheduled for public display at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show and will be on display alongside the BRZ STI Sport and Viziv Performance Concept – the latter heavily rumoured to be the next-generation WRX STI.

With the S207 now slowly finding its way into our market through parallel importers, it’s only a matter of time before we see the S208 creep up on several vehicle listing sites. Are there any specific modifications you wish to see in the S208? Let us know in the comments section below.
