2018 Audi A7 Sportback teased, debuts on October 19

Audi has taken to its official Twitter account to publish the photo above, giving us a glimpse of the second-generation A7’s silhouette along with a launch date – October 19, 2017. That’s just two days away, but the new fastback has already been caught completely bare, albeit in scale model form.

Judging solely from its exterior styling, the A7 looks to sport an evolutionary look with a sleeker, broader Singleframe grille flanked by simpler trapezoidal headlights. The side profile remains visibly similar to the model before, although the rear roofline appears to look somewhat raised, potentially allowing for better headroom.

In any case, the new A7 will ride on the revised MLB Evo platform, which it shares with the new A8. Expect decent weight loss with improved handling and agility, as well as engines ranging from turbocharged four-cylinders to the 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8, the latter most likely to debut in the hotter S7 and RS7 models.

A 48V mild hybrid variant will also reportedly be in the mix, and items on this one will include some of the high-tech autonomous driving features found on the A8.
