Twenty minutes. That was all the time needed for 12 limited edition Volkswagen Beetles to be sold out on Lazada Malaysia, with the first unit being accounted for just 26 seconds after midnight on December 12, 2017.
A few days ago, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) announced a collaboration with the e-commerce site to offer the limited edition Beetles in conjunction with Lazada’s Online Revolution campaign, which takes place from December 12 to 14, 2017.
Two designs were made available – the “Herbie 53” finished in Pure White (three units) and White Silver (five units), along with the “Hot Bug” in Tornado Red (four units). Each Beetle is priced at RM112,112 (without registration and insurance), and comes with a five-year warranty and roadside assistance.
Those who have managed to secure a unit would have had to purchase a RM5,000 Welcome Kit that doubles as a pre-payment booking fee. The kit contains a limited edition Volkswagen keychain and a Touch ‘n Go card with RM100 preloaded. Customers will soon be contacted by a Volkswagen representative before being directed to his/her preferred dealership to complete the purchase.
“We are delighted to have really pushed boundaries and made history with this collaboration – to be able to sell 12 cars within such a short period of time is amazing. This truly is a testament of how receptive Malaysians are when it comes to online purchasing,” said Erik Winter, managing director of VPCM.

Expected. Very cheap.
18% discount is above average discount, very good deal.
VW vehicles are very nice to drive. They are solid and well built.
Next generation Beetle should have better refinement and NVH.

Beetle worth a fortune soon becoz Volkswagen to pull the plug on Beetle.
You hv not own one?
Get discount 18% also no point when you have to go into SC every month for problems with your SC.
Even in November 2017 also, so many 2017 Passat models kaput cause of their DSG.
My 14′ Beetle still in great condition, so do my sister’s Golf TSi MK7. No major problem whatsoever, very satisfied with the car. As long as you know how to take care of the car and didn’t drive like a typical fast and furious VW driver, everything will be alright. Peace out
You were saying that VW cars are very manja. Cannot press the throtle lebih-lebih. Not like their jepunis competitor, or even malaysian one.
From now onwards VPCM is going to start sticking some stickers, calling them limited edirion and sell their slow moving vehicles online to clear stock.
This taboleh ni becoz basher says MY pipu all poor. VW fake news too?
And they said Malaysia is going bankrupt…
Dont be deceived by the mere 18% discount when the costs of ownership for one VW is aint cheap not to mention the hassle of waiting for warranty claims approval before the service center can start the repairs.
this is marketing strategy..or should i say, marketing gimmick. majority or all of the vw bettle maybe have been sold to vm staff it self.. don’t trust me, do some research.
bitcoin millionaires…..lol
VPCM/Lazada sold ALL 12 limited edition VW Beetles in 20 minutes !!! Maybe they sold it with Lazada promo code 20%. That will make the Beetles less than RM90k. Win win for both VW & purchaser.
Malaysian were complaining over the high cost of living, hate GST, Ringgit depreciation, fussy about the increase of toll rate & petrol prices, rumah mampu tengok. And yet, look! how rich and kiasu Malaysian people are. Unbelievable!
everyone know this is a very good PR spin for lazada, but not bettle. but this is really a PR OVERSPIN.. till it was so fake..
VW group cars is good and nice to drive;
If you buy one make sure you sale before 100K km. It happened to me and other owner. My AudiQ5 gearbox kong after 119k km, cost me 8K after discount. in 140K km the whole engine have to rebuild, cost 22K++, and after 4 months of waiting.
Not recommend to own, unless your not care about the problem just like their looks and drive.
