2018 Ford Focus officially teased with colourful camo

Ford has released the first official image of the 2018 Focus, with the fourth-generation model reportedly set to make its debut early next year. As part of the carmaker’s marketing campaign, the car shown here is dressed in some very colourful camouflage, and bears the hashtag #TimeToFocus.

The Focus’ redesign includes a larger front grille, reshaped lower apron, and headlights that appear to be inspired by those on the latest Fiesta. There also appears to be a greater emphasis on interior space, with the windowline appearing less rakish compared to the third-gen model.

Based on spyshots provided to us, wraparound taillights will continue to be a feature on the new Focus. However, they occupy significantly less space than on its predecessor, and boast “3D-effect” graphics within them.

Other prototypes that were also captured include sedan and estate versions, all of which look to integrate the same taillight design into their respective body styles. Upon initial inspection, the new Focus looks to have grown in size as well, although we’ll need official dimension figures to confirm the matter.

It is rumoured the Focus will come with a longer wheelbase to provide more room inside the cabin, which gets an all-new dashboard to match. A large display will be the main attraction here, while the rest of the setup appears to mimic what you’ll find in the Fiesta.

Under the hood, the new Focus is expected to fully transition to turbocharged engines, where previously the United States market still received the naturally-aspirated 2.0 litre Duratec Ti-VCT inline-four. The base model should then be powered by the firm’s 1.0 litre turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost unit, along with the 1.5 litre four-cylinder EcoBoost mill.
