Dec 2017 week five fuel prices – petrol down, diesel up

It’s either respite or a further tightening of belts from last week depending on one’s fuel of choice, for effective tomorrow, December 28, petrol prices will drop by one sen to RM2.26 per litre for RON 95 (from RM2.27 per litre last week). The same goes for RON 97, which is now priced at RM2.53 per litre (down from RM2.54).

Diesel, on the other hand, gets a three sen price hike to RM2.26 per litre (from RM2.23 last week). As before, Euro 5 diesel is pegged 10 sen above the Euro 2M equivalent, and so that goes for RM2.36 a litre from tomorrow. These prices will take effect from 12.01 am until January 3, when the next set of prices for the following week will be announced.

As 2017 rolls to a close, this pricing marks the 40th weekly update of fuel prices since the system took effect end of March this year. Compared to March 2017 fuel prices, the net difference has been a four sen reduction for RON 95 petrol (from RM2.30 per litre), a seven sen reduction for RON 97 petrol (from RM2.60 per litre), and a six sen hike for Euro 2M diesel (from RM2.20 per litre).

Where’s the logic sense? If crude oil down, both petrol and diesel should go down. Not one up, one down.

        • More than half local uni students unable to afford a single meal a day due to the rising cost of living. 41% can only afford to buy packets of instant noodles. Many are forced to skip meals and are left feeling unwell. Students are even fainting because they are so hungry when they come to class

  • Kepada semua yang bijaksana, RON95 boleh sama harga dengan diesel. Tanyalar diri sendiri, ini ikut harga dunia atau harga ikut suka hati?
