We’ve seen plenty of prototypes of the all-new 2019 Audi Q3 previously, and now it’s time for the high-performance version to show its face. Our spies managed to capture this SQ3 mule as it underwent testing at the Nürburgring recently, which gives us a good look at what to expect.

Visually, the SQ3 is a lot more aggressive compared to a bog-standard model, with more prominent air inlets at the front, while a quad tailpipe setup in the rear is a trademark found on other Audi ‘S’ models. Also seen on the mule are beefier brakes, another indicator that additional stopping power is required to cope with what’s under the bonnet.

Reports suggest the upcoming SQ3 will be powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder TFSI engine lifted from the latest S3, which offers up to 310 PS and 380 Nm of torque. The mill will likely be mated to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive system.

Later on, an even more potent RS Q3 variant might present itself, seeing how Audi Sport has plans to introduce five new models to its performance line-up by 2020. Should such a model exist, it could come with a 2.5 litre turbo five-pot TFSI from the TT RS, which serves up 400 PS and 480 Nm.
