Famous Ford aftermarket tuner Roush Performance has been working on the 2018 Ford Mustang for some time now, and the end result is definitely worth the wait. Introducing the ‘Jackhammer’ Mustang, complete with a fire-breathing 710 hp supercharged V8!
Built based on the facelifted Mustang GT Fastback 5.0 V8, the Roush Jackhammer gets a host of mechanical and aesthetic upgrades, starting with the fitment of the Roush TVS 2650 Supercharger which bumps power output from 435 hp to a whopping 710 hp. The stock engine is machined and features low-temperature radiator components for cooling purposes. There’s also “extreme duty” half shafts installed to manage the extra grunt.
For peace of mind ownership, Roush is offering a five-year or 60,000 mile (96,000 km) warranty protection on the powertrain components. Other upgrades include one-way height-adjustable performance coil-over suspension, a JH strut tower brace and high-flow intakes behind the front grilles.
In the looks department, the standard package, which costs from US$14,765 (RM58k), comes with special 20-inch black wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Sport tyres, front lip, side skirts, Roush fender badges, hood heat extractors, tailgate lip, Roush-branded panel between the tail lights, as well as a huge rear diffuser to go with the quad exhaust setup. Inside, it gets a Roush interior medallion on the dash, Roush embroidered floor mats and Roush illuminated door sill plates.
Other add-on options include Roush performance exhaust system with blacked-out tips, active exhaust system, top performance stripe, three-way height-adjustable performance coil-over suspension, billet performance foot pedals, Roush leather upholstery (standard and Recaro sports seats available), Roush six-speed shifter ball (black colour only), locking lug nuts, Roush-design instrument cluster and blacked-out rear quarter window scoops.
What’s unique about the Jackhammer is that it gets the coveted hockey stripe on the sides, a marking that has in the past only been granted to Stage 3 Mustangs. The Jackhammer is only available in GT Fastback form, both in six-speed manual or 10-speed auto configurations.
