Mercedes-Benz recently announced the arrival of the V177 A-Class Sedan later this year, but it still hasn’t forgotten about the CLA. Here it is in prototype form as it undergoes testing on the Nürburgring, still wearing the familiar camouflage from our previous sighting.
The CLA stands out from its sedan sibling with its low-slung roofline that leads to a less steeply-raked rear window. At the back is also where you’ll spot the sleeker, more angular taillights and number plate that is mounted further down like on the latest CLS.
These two mules captured by our spy photographers are also of different trim levels, where the car bearing ‘175’ is the fancier one with LED headlamps, while the ‘174’ car gets halogen items instead – multi-spoke alloys are present on both.
As with the latest A-Class, the CLA will likely ride on the new Modular Front Architecture 2 (MFA2) and receive new technologies like the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) and line-up of petrol and diesel engines. Other variants expected to join the mix include an estate as well as high-performance AMG models.
