The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has announced sales and production figures for the month of September 2018, which are lower compared to what was seen in August.
A total of 31,241 vehicles were delivered in September, which is 52% lower than 65,551 units recorded in August. Sales volume in September this year was also 23% or 9,715 units lower than the corresponding month in 2017.
The association attributed this significant decline to car companies depleting their stocks due to overwhelming demand during the zero-rated goods and services tax (GST) period.
Meanwhile, total industry volume (TIV) as of September 2018 stood at 454,971 units, representing a 7% increase from the 425,678 units accounted for during the same period last year.
Moving forward, the MAA expects sales results for October to not deviate too far from September’s figures because of customers’ adjustment to the reimplementation of the sales and services tax (SST) and order fulfillment following the tax holiday.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with myTukar.
Habislah ploton
Buy ploton now b4 price go up
title used is totally stupid
Habislah MY! Ini mesti sarahan Bapak coming out with new taxes onto the rakyat so that they can use their money to ‘save Perotga’.
Now the auto bataria already cannot cope with the service. The sale drop will help the service center with overcrowded car. Hope they can improve the lousy service and the super low quality service advisor got time to go for basic training.
Habislah perodua dan toyota
Habislah Honda
Proton sales now sure lingkup further. From 200,000 cars in 2010, now, hardly also can sell 50,000.
Lucky China and Geely is saving Proton. Otherwise, more bailouts would be needed and the total bailout bill might be well over RM20 bil is Geely did not save us
Our National car is dead. We cannot even make a succesful car, now we want to make plane pulak…..oh wai!
Habislah Perodua, bulan 9 hanya jual bawah 10 ribu unit je…
Proton sales also drop 52% compared to August, same trend with overall market
you should compare to July 2018 till September 2018, see what is the difference with/without tax period.
X70 lonceng, Oct sales gerenti skyrocket
Tak jadi, hanya 2000 unit X70 sampai kat bulan 11
Still new to paultan? Fyi this is official figure given to them every month.
Not sales drop, all Malaysians wait PROTON 3.0
We don’t need 3rd failure. Another white elephant.
Plan already approve
ya, because c-hr facing two major problems:
1) wiring problem caused fire
2) screw defects caused rear wheels loose
Predict:-
Perodua 8435 units
Honda 4998 units
Proton 4524 units (confirmed)
Toyota 4061 units
Nissan 1562 units
A large chunk of deliveries went South when Perodua had issues with their vendor for the Myvi. Their sales in September were their lowest in 30 years. Below 10,000 cars. Things will gradually get better from October onward.
Cant wait to see how Volvo and Audi perform. If still koyak, please give 40% discount
Volvo and Audi are already dead in Malaysia. That is why the existing few customers they have kena ketuk maximum with service bills. Have you seen service bills for Audi and Volvo? You will pengsan
Volvo and Audi team think globally dude. Sales low in My but high in other part of the world. Then, its ok.
Volvo sales are actually doing quite good, but their plant cannot churn out so many car to meet the demands from the market. Did you know that the waiting time for a XC60 and XC90 is about 3-6 months now?
The new XC40 demands from around the world is so high you need to wait at least 12 months in some countries.
Hardly see Volvo in Thailand and Indon the 2 biggest Asia market. See more merz and bimmer. May be the class is the factor
Who is the Myvi vendor with the defective products?? Not a single news anywhere..why are they not punished or even sacked
The recent Toyota can be said to be a bad year, and its car models frequently need to be recalled, and its popular small crossover model Toyota C-HR has been recalled again in recent days, and the reason for this recall is very serious because when the screw is manufactured, the rear wheel cannot be locked, so the C-HR may have a loose rear wheel!
Ah Shadap lah Honda Salesman. You are talking fake comment. Just look at Honda Models first, Honda Models RV is so damn terrible compare to Toyota and Proton. Also look at CRV. The recent Honda can be said to be a bad year and it’s car models frequently need to be recalled for all Honda CRV Models and it’s popular models Honda CR-V have been recalled for many years and the reason for this recall is very very very seriously because when after finishing manufacturing Honda engine, gas was improperly leaking into the oil from the Honda engine which is very risky.
“The association attributed this significant decline to car companies depleting their stocks due to overwhelming demand during the zero-rated goods and services tax (GST) period.”
Well, no need to be car sales scientist to know that.
Heard Proton only sold 2500 cars omg….
Normal lah, middle of the year months are always extra high one, furthermore with tax holiday because our abang abang need to show they got ‘luxury’ Toyotaik or brand new jamban Poodua when they balik kampung. This is to show the kampong folks they have done very well in the Bandar and their migration from kampung was worth it.
This is a well known fact. Ask any banker and they will tell you, 1 month before Raya or other festive season, sales are very high and the banker explained further, it is to berlagak tak ingat dunia when going back to kampung.
Mark my words, after 3 – 6 month, there will be lots of tarik balik and it will going up more and more.
