The BMW 8 Series has made its launch debut in Thailand, where it is being offered in a sole M850i xDrive Coupe variant. It won’t come cheap, as the flagship sports coupe retails at 12,999,000 baht over there, which is about RM1,652,108 when directly converted.
For the money, what you’ll be getting is a 4.4 litre twin-turbo petrol V8 with 530 PS and 750 Nm of torque. An eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission is mated to the engine, with BMW’s rear-biased xDrive all-wheel drive system and M sport differential also present to get power to all four wheels.
The almost-two-tonne coupe will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and hit a top speed of 250 km/h. The package also includes M Sport brakes and Adaptive M suspension Professional, which provides active roll stabilisation and Integral Active Steering – the latter being rear-axle steering.
In terms of the equipment, the Thailand-spec M850i comes with 20-inch M light alloy Y-spoke wheels and staggered tyres (245/35 front and 275/30 rear), BMW Laserlight (with High-beam assistant), M Aerodynamics package, BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line, M rear spoiler, Driving Assistant package,
Moving inside, the powered, ventilated and heated seats are trimmed in BMW Individual ‘Merino’ leather that is available in three colour schemes depending on the exterior finish chosen. You’ll also get a BMW Individual headliner in Alcantara anthracite, ‘CraftedClarity’ glass application, M Sport leather steering wheel, Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Connected Drive, a Harmon Kardon sound system and head-head-up display.

BMW created a beautiful car here, although the concept one looks far better but that’s usually the case for most car manufacturers. The final production unit are usually less sexy. But for this price range of RM1.6 million, potential buyers will have more options that that they can consider for that sort of money. So, I don’t think it will sell well, especially when it’s going to cost more then 1.6mil when it is here.
BMW has gone overboard with the double kidney grille, it pretty much spoiled the overall look of the otherwise a very sleek & elegant GT. They should have carried over the grille design of the last 6-series onto this 8-series…
how come BMW didn’t launch at our RM20-25 entrance fee motor show?
we come we see and we move on.
Wow! 13mil Baht! Who says cars in MY is most exp?
Crazy price, near 2m when coming hear…but not same class as ferrari, lambo
Badge sheep spotted.
Lol, hear or here?
Lexus LC500 get direct competitor.
LC500 is not even close to 8 series, nuff said
It maybe slightly cheaper here but even with a cheaper pricetag buyers are spoilt for choice. One can opt for a recond 458 Italia which is a damn fine specimen in my book.
