In continuing tradition, BMW will be introducing a long-wheelbase version of its latest 3 Series for China. The G28 BMW 3 Series Li will make its debut at the upcoming Auto Shanghai 2019, and the blue unit you see here is of the 325 Li M Sport variant.
Between the regular G20 and G28 long-wheelbase models, the latter differs by way of longer rear doors, larger rear space, as well as model-specific comfort seats for all passengers. Also included in the mix is a panoramic glass roof, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and an ambient lighting system.
The Bavarian automaker has yet to reveal the stretched sedan’s exact dimensions, but word is the wheelbase will be stretched by 110 mm to 2,961 mm (up from 2,851 mm in the regular G20 3 Series). Its overall length is said to grow by 120 mm, and the car would ride 21 mm taller.
For powertrain, the 325 Li is propelled by a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, supposedly delivering around 181 hp. That’s quite a bit less than the 258 hp/400 Nm output the 330i makes, but BMW’s press statement seems to suggest that the new 3 Series will only be available in the sole 325i and 325 Li guises in China – at least for now.
Available features include LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, M Sport package, 19-inch twin five-spoke alloy wheels shod with Pirelli run-flat tyres (225/40 up front, 255/35 for the rear), 10.25-inch infotainment display, 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument display, triple-zone climate control and a Qi wireless smartphone charging tray.
