G16 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe leaked – debuts soon!

The first ever G16 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, which will be unveiled in a matter of days, has been leaked online. These images give us a clear view of its profile and rear section, and at first glance things already seem quite promising.

As expected, the differences between the coupe and this four-door model start from the A-pillar, with the latter featuring a slightly less rakish windshield. The roofline tapers less aggressively to provide adequate headroom for rear passengers, and culminates into an integrated lip spoiler on the boot lid.

While not confirmed, visually, the Gran Coupe does seem to have a longer wheelbase. Design changes include a more pronounced window line, and the good news is all doors get the frameless window design.

In the powertrain department, the 8 Series Gran Coupe will share the same crop of engines that currently power the 8 Series line-up. That includes the entry-level 840i and 840i xDrive with a B58 3.0 litre inline-six petrol (335 hp, 450 Nm), the 840d xDrive diesel with a 3.0 litre twin-turbocharged straight-six (320 hp, 680 Nm), the M850i xDrive with a 4.4 litre biturbo petrol V8 (530 hp, 750 Nm), as well as the range-topping S63 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 (600 hp, 750 Nm) in the M8.

As usual, expect the bulk of the interior to be lifted wholesale, with added creature comforts for the benefit of rear passengers. Like what you see here, folks?
