Geely has released more information and photos of the new Boyue Pro, a week after it unveiled the latest version of the Geely Smart Ecosystem (GKUI 19) and E-Series chipset that are both found in the SUV.
In terms of styling changes, the Boyue Pro features a more prominent front end that includes jewel-eyed headlamps flanking a larger “expanding cosmos” grille that is now further outwards. To go along with the nose, there’s also a new bonnet with prominent creases, as well as stronger haunches.
Meanwhile, the lower apron takes a page out of the Xingyue, adopting a more angular look with an “A-wing” that partitions the corner fog lamp sections from the wide intake.
Moving towards the rear, the taillights have been mildly reworked to better align to the SUV’s line, with updated light graphics. The Geely logo has also been replaced with a script on a chrome bridge linking the clusters, while a simplified bottom apron and new roof spoiler design are the other exterior changes.
According to Geely, customer feedback also resulted in the rear of the Boyue Pro having a lower load height when the tailgate is opened to make it easier to load and unload items.
Inside, the Boyue Pro gets a new dashboard that is more contemporary in design, with highlights being sleeker air vents, a larger area dedicated to the touchscreen infotainment system, and discreet piano-key style switchgear for the climate control.
You’ll also find a flat-bottom steering wheel, updated visuals for the digital instrument cluster, and a new layout for the centre console. On the last bit, there’s a new gear lever and buttons for various vehicle functions, while the drive mode selector is now a rotary dial rather than individual buttons.
That large infotainment screen features GKUI 19, and is powered by Geely’s E01 system-on-chip (SoC) that offers superior performance and functionality compared to its previous system. On higher-end variants, there’s a Bose sound system instead of the previous Morel one, with microphone support for the karaoke function.
As for engines, the Boyue Pro is still available with a 1.8 litre turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, which has been improved to meet China’s National 6B emission standards. The mill makes 181 hp and 300 Nm of torque, with the latter being a 15 Nm improvement from before.
Also available is a 1.5 litre powerplant that is shared with the smaller Binyue, and was jointly developed by Geely and Volvo. The three-cylinder motor benefits from turbocharging and direct injection to make 174 hp and 255 Nm.
The standard transmission with the 1.8T engine is now a seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic rather than a six-speed automatic, with Geely claiming the DCT has an efficiency of 97%, helping reduce fuel consumption by one litre per 100km when compared to the original Boyue. The three-pot option gets an Aisin-sourced six-speed automatic instead.
The order books for the Boyue Pro are already open in China, and it will be sold alongside the current Boyue as a more upscale offering (cue the smartphone references). Given the association the Boyue has to the Proton X70, it isn’t known if the locally-assembled (CKD) version of the X70 will be based on the Boyue (as it is now) or the Boyue Pro. We were told to expect some local “surprises”, so we’ll have to wait and see what Proton has in store. Excited?

Proton X50 PRO. fullstop
Saw an X70 challenging a CX3 on the road this morning. Some of this X70 drivers may be thinking that they own a Japanese or even German SUV, but they do not know that Chinese SUV is still at least 2 levels lower than Japan SUV and at least 5 levels lower than German.
You must be that CX-3 driver struggling to catch up to that X70. I feel for you bro. (Lamo!)
X70 driver shall work harder to get at least a CX3 then CX5.
you must be dreaming. CHina is so advance. Even the german & japanese are afraid of them.
Moving forward, everyone is changing to drive better cars like European, China, Proton and Ford. People are smart because of powerful engines that consists of eco-friendly cars, having advanced tech and better quality cars. Even they also wanted to go for advanced plug in hybrid cars.
Support Proton, Geely, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Haval, Borgward, Ford, Peugeot, Renault > all
This should have been the X70. Look better on the inside and outside. Proton would have sold more had this came along earlier coz I wasn’t a fan of the front end and interior until this came along.
All stolen tech from volvo, vw, mercedes. China only good in copy paste and steal tech. Then bolehland proud hidung tinggi with it. Do u hate me babe?
All cars are stolen tech from Daimler because they have 4 wheels and steering. Since Geely is the majority shareholder of Daimler, by virtue all automakers have stolen tech from Geely. Geely should be compensated.
If follow your logic, Toyota also stole VVT tech from Yamaha. Big companies like Google, Apple, Toyota and so on acquire other companies to gain access to new techs. Aren’t Volvo owned by Geely? Geely has majority share in Daimler, right? Go back to your cave.
Before this volvo own by who? Now geely own it and steal volvo techologies. X70 is volvo wanna be. Same goes to daimler. All technologies in cina not pure, its true it all stolen technologies.
not stolen, but bought technology.
Dude, you clearly have a messed up way of thinking. My suggestion for you is to get out more, interact less with conspiracy theorists and gain more common knowledge.
Sembang kencang je. Which whiteman technology is pure? Even the wheel technology is stolen from orang Arab. You want to pay tribute to the originator go kowtow to orang Arab!
Piramid got wheel ohhh. Can move around one ohhhhh. Halal or not, still many milay willing to buy non halal ceenaa car.
Said the uninformed imbecile who never heard of Mesopotamia. I suggest you study early human civilisation history and not be a fool who thinks Middle East is only about the Pyramids.
In human history:
Italian ( Marco Polo) stole from Chinese
British stole from Italian
German stole from British
American stole from German
Japanese & Korean stole from American
Foolish talk. If Proton had waited for Pro to come then introduce X70, the local SUV momentum would have been on Perodua Aruz side. By that time, it would be 10 times more difficult to convince the market that X70 Pro is worth to spend that extra money. Look at the reality now, tens of thousands are still waiting to get X70 as it is currently. The X70 is well equipped for our local market, let the Pro come in in due time when it’s time for facelift. The current, future, and potential owners will appreciate this move.
Hell…. its about time. Ourah!
In China geely not even in top 5 best selling cars. Haval and wuling sell better than geely. But when come to mesia bolehland, haval end uo become junk. X70 on the way to junk too?
Are you stuck in 2009? Or you think readers here have low IQ like you? Geely is the top 4 carmaker in China, with 1.5 million cars sold last year. Even Paultan had an article about this in Jan.
Here are the 2017 Chinese top ten best selling cars;
1st – Wuling Hongguang (532,394 registrations)
Not very sexy but very practical, this popular MPV is manufactured in Luizhou by a joint venture between the local giant SAIC and General Motors. It owes its popularity to its seven seats, its compactness (4.30m) and its affordable price of c.£7,500 (60,000 yuan).
2nd – Volkswagen Lavida (517 255 registrations)
Manufactured by the SAIC-VW joint venture, this traditional saloon is based on the platform of the VW Golf IV/first-generation Skoda Octavia. Its success is based on proven engines and its variations, the Gran Lavida and Cross Lavida.
3rd – Haval H6 (505 944 registrations)
Great Wall’s 100 per cent SUV brand, Haval boasts spectacular H6 sales figures, with the stylish SUV being a tad smaller than a Nissan Qashqai.
4th – Buick Excelle (421,296 registrations)
The Buick Excelle saloon is the result of the collaboration between SAIC and General Motors, sharing its platform with the current Vauxhall Astra.
5th – Nissan Sylphy (404,726 registrations)
Another mid-size saloon with classic lines, the Sylphy is the three-box cousin of the Nissan Pulsar sold here in the UK. Associated with Dongfeng, Nissan intends to become the third manufacturer on the Chinese market within five years (it currently occupies the 6th position).
6th – Baojun 510 (358,877 registrations)
This affordable SUV targets young households with its practical looks and low local taxes (priced from c.£6,000). Baojun belongs to the SAIC-GM joint venture.
7th – Volkswagen Tiguan (340,032 registrations)
Already a strong seller in Europe, the Tiguan takes advantage of the SUV boom in China and has done particularly well to appear in the Top ten best seller list here, with its higher imported price positioning. The sever-seater L version (the equivalent of the new Tiguan Allspace here) is particularly popular.
8th – GAC Trumpchi GS4 (337,330 registrations)
Comparable to a Toyota RAV4, this SUV makes a fortune for this former specialist bike and minibus manufacturer The GAC brand intends to launch this SUV machine in the US market soon with ‘low cost’ prices … but the name Trumpchi might just repel some buyers because of its proximity to the name of a certain President!
9th – Toyota Corolla (336,763 registrations)
This Japanese model is the second best-selling car on the planet: a third of the Corollas being sold in the Chinese market. The hybrid version, manufactured locally in China since 2015, no longer suffers from customs duties and receives government aid as a ‘clean’ machine, helping to elevate its sales.
10th – Volkswagen Sagitar (327,062 registrations)
Unlike the VW Lavida or Tiguan, the Sagitar is manufactured by Volkswagen’s other Chinese joint venture of the German brand, founded with FAW, the oldest Chinese manufacturer. The Sagitar shares many parts with the American-built Jetta.
2017 data? Outdated dude. Refer to @Wonderwhy data from last year which corroborated with LOL.
Even in 2018 and H1 of 2019 geely never made number 1 top selling in china dude. Still vw top of list. Vw is brand leader in china. U will see mostly vw cars in china road.
https://paultan.org/2019/01/08/geely-autos-2018-sales-up-20-3-breach-1-5m-mark/
I ever read in some website top brand cars sales in china is VW with 3.1 mil car sold in 2017/18 forgot. Honda is 2nd with 1.4 mil, Geely is 3rd with 1.3 mil. Not sure this year.

X70 premium Rm123k. Proton X70 Pro Rm133k?
With CKD, there’s possibility Pro will priced at current premium. Premium could be lower.
Ohh yeah baby!!! Geely is like P1 alwiz improving their cars and never stop improving. I just hope the 1.8T here sticks to the 6AT as DCT isnt so reliable in MY weather.
Geely, P1, VolvoCar, Volvo Trucks, Mesidis, Lotus, L&C, Polestar, SMART > all
Only Volkswagen’s dual-clutch is not reliable. Weirdly, Mercedes, BMW, Honda etc. are goooood. So, cannot blame our weather.
Hi Five Bro!
But Ford DCT is not reliable as well. A tech that can be and cannot be reliable is like 50/50 gambling so better wait until it become proven in our weather.
Errr…but I thought all the time Ford is reliable. Anyway, I know that Japanese Cars and Korean Cars are not reliable.
This proves that Wilson knows nothing about cars. Japanese cars are reliable man!
Car is reliable, engine is quite reliable, but the DCT is prone to failures like VW DSG in tropical weather.
As long as no campro and punch cvt, proton is so good..
Even the Punch CVT can be good, if tuned correctly as shown by the Iriz and Persona facelifts. Drive the both facelift and pre-facelift and you can feel the difference.
So, they changed from Qualcom to Mediatek. I was hoping for Huawei since Huawei is far superior than Mediatek.
Huawei dun outsource their Kirin CPU, they only use in their smartpongs. Mediatek is a CPU design house so deswai Geely go for them.
Huawei is not selling Hisilicon SoC to third parties yet. So far, it is only using the chipsets for its own products.
proton x70 the old stock geely???
Boyue Pro with single zone a/c vs Boyue dual zone a/c
Nowadays, everything needs to be “Pro” even though nothing pro about it…
But the headlight look sleeker. The current big headlight look very dated.
Those front seats looks oh sooo comfortable. Proper thigh & shoulders support. Bucket seats to snuggle you. Be super comfortable for long journeys. Even the back seats now have proper thigh support.
Anyone care to guess what’s inside that bulky console behind the great view mirror (besides the camera for ADAS)? There’s an on/off switch at the side. My guess is an integrated dash cam.
Just came back from ShenZhen China for 3 days business trip. Honestly i hardly can see Geely car on the road, while VW, Benz, Toyota & Nissan are top the road.
Stayed in Dongguan and mostly saw geely, vw, benz, toyota but not nissan
