GIIAS 2019: Daihatsu Ayla, Sirion, Terios Special Edition – yellow highlights for Perodua sister cars

Besides the sleek hybrid-powered HY Fun Concept, Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) wheeled out special editions for the Daihatsu Ayla, Sirion and Terios models at the 2019 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Yellow accents and dark window tint are common themes.

The Daihatsu Ayla is a Low Cost Green Car (LCGC, Indonesia’s version of the Thai eco car) and a twin sister of the Toyota Agya. As you can see, it’s also a sister car of our Perodua Axia.

The Ayla SE is a grey hatchback with a body coloured front grille (as opposed to chrome) with a yellow pinstripe. There’s some gloss black around the license plate area, something that’s also replicated at the rear.

Also black painted are the wing mirror caps and rear spoiler. One of the four parts that make up the alloy wheels are in yellow. The bright hue is also found on two lines of SE decals on the sides, and the underline of the rear glass.

Inside, the Ayla SE gets black trim and buttons with yellow accents on the side air con vent rings. Kit wise, there’s a 2-DIN touchscreen head unit with reverse camera, and SE carpets.

The Malaysian-made Daihatsu Sirion, a rebadged Perodua Myvi, gets a front and side aerokit painted in black. Like the Ayla, the silver Sirion SE gets yellow accents on the side skirts, wheels and decals around the glass area. Equipment wise, the Indonesian Myvi – marketed as a rather premium product here – gains a 2-DIN touchscreen head unit with Mirrorlink, and SE carpets.

Lastly, the Daihatsu Terios SE. The Indonesian sister of our Perodua Aruz gets a 50% reduction in chrome on its front grille, leaving just two shiny bars that connect the headlamps – neat. Yellow accents can be found on the fog lamp surrounds, rims and SE side decals (just one piece, the other cars have two).

Inside the fully blacked out cabin, you’ll find yellow rings on the side AC vents, a 2-DIN touchscreen head unit with around view parking camera, leather on the seats and door cards (with yellow stitching) and SE carpets.

If this game changing Ayla, Sirion and Terios SE come here by Perodua Axia, Myvi and Aruz SE naming, I cannot imagine what will happen to game over Proton Saga, Iriz and X70. For sure the 3 Proton models will be game by the SE Perodua over.

Really ugly mod. And what’s with the sectioned rim colour? Trying to mimic the coloured brake calipers of sportscars? Fail wei! Once the wheels starts rolling can quickly see front and rear will not be aligned.

please dont paint the rims like that, El-Cheapo style. I indon maid could do it with a yellow spray can (cost RM7.90), still with extra paint left…

  • Gone are d days when improved performance and handling meant ‘special edition’, now it’s just a slap of yellow paint and it’s a different ‘speacial edition’ clicked on this article as i was genuinely interested, read half way thru just to realize that the automotiv world has hit rock bottom, it’s either super cars or economy cars, anything in between is just in a different color or add body kit‍♂️. Are there no more ppl in RND who genuinely wants to create something memorable? Hope this trend doesn’t reach Malaysia, this is just an embarrassment, be brave peroduo…put a turbo in it & shocks to compliment the new power, then slap a ‘speacial edition’ then…mybe you will get some reapect from ur gear heads.
