Grab has announced it will be introducing a new rides policy that will cover both drivers and passengers of its ride-hailing service. Effective from tomorrow, September 14, only those with “Low Risk” or “Casual Contact (No Symptoms)” status on their MySejahtera programme will be allowed to utilise rides on Grab.
As such, those who do not meet these requirements will not be able to use the service. For passengers, this means that they will not be able book and take a ride on any of Grab’s e-hailing services, while for drivers, they will not be able to engage in any e-hailing jobs on Grab’s platform.
The company however said that vaccination status is not part of its new policy, which is made on its own accord and not as a directive from the national security council (MKN). It said that anyone with any vaccination status (no dose, one dose or two doses) will be able to use its ride-hailing service, as long as they meet the required MySejahtera status as mentioned.
Under the new policy, drivers as well as passengers can request each other to show their MySejahtera status before proceeding with the ride, doing so via the check-in screen or profile section. If they have a status other than “Low Risk” or “Casual Contact (without symptoms)” or are not registered on MySejahtera, either party has the right to not proceed with the ride and cancel it.
The company said that both drivers and passengers are only allowed to request to view the risk status of the other on the app, and any other information besides the Covid-19 risk status was out of bounds.

If have to check, there’ll be a long queue involved. Especially in shopping malls, or most places where there’s lots of cars, will the guards there allow checking each other while all other cars waiting in line? Looks very clumsy. Unless if the Grab can make the smartphone able to check each other immediately.
Even in shopping complexes do not allow high risk persons to enter

Does not make sense, passenger can used other ehailing service. Who ever can come out to shop for sure their Mysejahtera is OK, people are not stupid.
This only jeopardise own business and reduce driver income. Plus gave opportunity for other ehailing service to gain their market margin.
