Bangkok 2025: Mitsubishi Xforce HEV – 116 PS/255 Nm e:Motion hybrid powertrain; from RM118k in Thailand

Fresh from its debut in Thailand, the Mitsubishi Xforce HEV is shown at Impact Muang Thong Thani where the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) is taking place.

Bringing a petrol-electric powertrain variant to the Xforce that made its debut in Indonesia in August 2023, the Xforce HEV employs the manufacturer’s e:Motion powertrain that also serves in the Xpander and Xpander Cross HEV.

As in those models, the Xforce HEV gets a 116 PS/255 Nm electric motor that is powered by a lithium-ion battery and an Atkinson-cycle 1.6 litre 4A92 MIVEC naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine that makes 95 PS at 5,100 rpm and 134 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.

The vehicle is driven mostly by the electric motor while the petrol engine primarily runs to generate electricity, though the latter can directly clutch in to the driveline for more efficient running at higher speeds – similar in operation to Honda’s e:HEV powertrain.

This system in the Xforce HEV has been evolved from that of the Xpander HEV, and the new model gets a newly developed two-speed transaxle with improved efficiency and a motor disconnect function, disengaging the drive shafts from the e-motor at high speeds.

Visually, the Xforce HEV is mildly different from the petrol-powered Xforce, with hybrid distinguished by ‘Xforce’ lettering on its bonnet atop a new grille design with chromed horizontal slats. Here, the Xforce also gets embellishments on its lower bumper section.

Wheels are of a design unique to the Xforce HEV, also of a two-tone design and 18 inches in diameter like the petrol-powered Xforce. Here, HEV badges on the front grille and tailgate identify the electrified variant, along with Hybrid EV badging in blue on the front doors.

External dimensions of the Xforce HEV match those of the petrol variant, measuring 4,390 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall with wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Where it differs is in it ground clearance; the Xforce HEV is more modest on this front at 183 mm, while the petrol variant boasts on a larger 222 mm clearance.

A similarly-styled ‘Horizontal Axis’ dashboard architecture features here as in the petrol Xforce, with the HEV getting a 12.3-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio screen and a 8.0-inch digital driver display, albeit with revised upholstery. Audio kit is an eight-speaker Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium ensemble, while smartphone connectivity is by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety kit includes six airbags, and active safety systems are comprised of the automaker’s Safety Sensing suite, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control (ACC), Automatic High Beam (AHB), Lead Car Departure Notification (LCDN), Blind Spot Warning (with Lane Change Assist function) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) systems.

Four exterior colours are offered for the Mitsubishi Xforce HEV – White Diamond, Graphite Gray Metallic, Blade Silver Metallic and Jet Black Mica, while White Diamond, Energetic Yellow, Red and Graphite Gray Metallic are offered as a two-tone scheme with a black roof.

Three variants are on sale in Thailand, starting at the base with the Xforce HEV Ignite at 899,000 baht (RM118,400), the Xforce HEV Ultimate at 1.039 million baht (RM136,800) and the top Xforce HEV Ultimate X, which goes for 1.089 million baht (RM143,500).

  • If highest specification with hybrid at 118K mungkin ada chance. Anything higher, it will DOA especially if Yaris Cross comes out suddenly.
