Another day, another couple of spyshots of the upcoming 2025 Proton Saga MC3 – this time thanks to Syafiq Ismail and Ye Chung Low on the paultan.org Automotive/Car discussion Facebook group. This is the first time we’re seeing the car with its headlamps almost fully covered, suggesting changes in that department.
Could the MC3 be the first Saga to wear LED headlamps? Even if this is true, we’ve spotted examples before with halogen reflectors, so it’s possible that the LED headlamps may be reserved for the top variant(s). The Saga’s main rival, the Perodua Bezza, has had LED headlamps since its 2020 facelift, and they’re standard across the range.
‘MC’ may stand for ‘minor change‘ in the Proton dictionary; however, the Saga MC3 is anything but. The front and back are expected to be completely new, incorporating a new front bumper, a larger grille, reshaped headlamps, a re-profiled bonnet, new tail lamps and a new boot lid. The interior could also be redesigned to include freestanding displays.
One big change is the long-awaited inclusion of driver assists, as the windscreen camera on the test mules indicate. The Saga has long lagged behind the Bezza in this regard, which has had autonomous emergency braking, front departure alert and pedal misapplication control since 2020.
An upgrade in the number of airbags (currently just two) would also be welcomed. However, since the car’s AMA platform is basically a warmed-over version of the 2016 Saga – itself a heavily-revised 2008 BLM – we wouldn’t hold our breath for it.
No word yet on what will power the car; will it use the same 1.3 litre VVT engine as before or adopt a Geely-sourced mill? We should know in the next few months – Proton Edar CEO Roslan Abdullah has said that a number of new models will be launched in the second quarter.

If still using timing belt campro no useful improvements at all. Malaysian still need to fork out rm80k+ to buy a proper sedan.
Bestseller namba 1
Heard from internal leaks it’s using timing-chain aluminium block campro vvti engine
lol changed on time + ori belt, me saga go zoom for 10 years. not my problem
That for all we know could be an all new model, not a facelifted Saga (minor change means just that. A new face (bumper, grille, headlamps) means it is a facelift. Change of face.
Anyway, for such a small volume company it doesn’t make much sense for neither minor change nor a facelift when an all new model is just around the corner.
As of Proton’s recent practise of inviting motor journalists for a preview way before a new model release (X90 and S70 were such cases), I believe paul tan team do know something.
He he he
So disappointed they are not reshaping the car but using the old shell. It’s so ugly.
Why not? This proven body shell is versatile for sedan or hatchback versions.
Finally Iriz Persona headlamps mods onto Saga MC3
Don’t hope for CarPlay or A.Auto for these.
Scrap all vehicles above 20yrs laa. Too many bc bruk otr
Hi Proton, if the Saga is getting a facelift, when will the Iriz and Persona get a major facelift. We need proper proportion shaped sedan and hatchbacks. No one buy iriz hothatch these days bcs we have the GR Yaris and so on. The Iriz has no practicality due to the profile of the hatch and less boot space compared to the Myvi. Also, the Persona needs to have a major facelift and give that car an R3 badge that it deserves.
