After dropping down to second place in May 2025, the Proton eMas 7 is now back on top by being the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in Malaysia in June 2025. According to the latest data from the road transport department (JPJ), 604 units of the eMas 7 were registered last month, bringing its year-to-date (YTD) total to 4,003 units.
The Tesla Model Y, which took the top spot in May 2025, slips down to third with 460 units (1,571 YTD), making room for the BYD Atto 3 to creep into second with 471 units (1,701 YTD). Outside the top three, we have the BYD Sealion 7 in fourth with 320 units (1,960 YTD), while the fifth spot is occupied by the Chery Omoda E5, which saw its highest number of registrations this year with 186 units (394 YTD), likely due to the generous rebate offered.
Next up is the Tesla Model 3 with 127 units in sixth, followed closely by its direct rival, the BYD Seal, in seventh with 125 units. Based on YTD figures, this head-to-head battle is currently being won by the Model 3 with 825 units registered as of June 30 compared to the Seal at 679 units.
Electric MPVs make up places eight to 11, with the BYD M6 leading the pack last month with 114 units (977 YTD). In 11th place is the Zeekr 009 with 55 units (457 YTD).
With 47 registrations last month, the Xpeng G6 (395 YTD) manages to climb up one spot to sit in 12th. The Porsche Taycan comes next in 13th with 44 units (205 YTD), with the figure likely to include recon units that are counted by the JPJ.
