Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept – sportier EV unveiled

The Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept was just teased yesterday, but now more photos and images of the car have been released. As previously reported, the sportier version of Nissan’s pioneering electric vehicle is set to make its world premiere at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show later this month.

As you can see, the Leaf gains a smattering of exterior addenda, including a more aggressive front bumper design, deeper side skirts and a sizeable rear diffuser, which Nissan claims reduce lift without adding drag. Also fitted are larger 18-inch six-spoke alloy wheels and Nismo black and red graphics, plus a black appliqué on the bonnet and charging port cover.

Inside, the black interior features red accents on the seats, steering wheel, air vents and starter button. There aren’t just aesthetic tweaks, either – the Leaf Nismo Concept will also come with sports suspension and high-performance tyres, along with a custom ECU said to provide instant acceleration at all speeds.

Those tweaks likely won’t extend to the powertrain, however, so the car should remain powered by an electric motor producing 110 kW (148 hp) and 320 Nm. Paired to a 40 kWh lithium-ion battery, the standard Leaf has a range of 378 km on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).

Hope we can see this car or even the Leaf 2nd generation in Malaysia. First generation Leaf was RM200k and yet gomen and MAI was pushing for EEV cars and told us to go and buy EEV and EV cars. Who can afford?
