Overview
The Proton X50 is a five-seat B-segment SUV for buyers who want a petrol crossover with 178 hp and a wet dual-clutch automatic. This SX11 facelift generation launched in 2025 and uses a 1,499 cc engine across the range. Prices start from RM89,800, placing it alongside the Honda WR-V and Chery Tiggo Cross rather than the cheaper Perodua Ativa.
X50 in 2026 — what's new
For 2026, the X50 carries on with Executive, Premium and Flagship trims, all retaining the 1,499 cc 178 hp petrol powertrain, wet dual-clutch automatic and five seats. Quartz Black joins the standard colour options following the popularity of the Black Edition. Proton has also shown an X50 Sport Edition at KLIMS, with a bodykit and red highlights, but its sale timing and availability are not confirmed.

Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the RM89,800 Executive. Executive, RM101,800 Premium and RM113,300 Flagship all share the same 178 hp 1.5-litre petrol engine, wet dual-clutch gearbox and five-seat layout. The RM12,000 step to Premium, or RM23,500 to Flagship, brings no quoted mechanical gain. On paper, you are paying for trim rather than performance, so pay more only if the respective equipment list contains features you will use.

Verdict
The facelift is more than a light restyle, bringing new head- and taillights, a larger lower grille and sheetmetal changes; Flagship also gets a large rear spoiler. Yet it is not a wholly new vehicle. Every trim has the same 178 hp petrol-DCT foundation. It costs more than the Ativa, Aruz and Traz, while Executive sits close to the WR-V and Tiggo Cross. Check the equipment carefully before moving up the range.
