The Toyota Harrier is a five-seat D-segment SUV, now sold in Malaysia as the XU80 2.5 HEV. It suits buyers who want a Toyota-badged SUV above the usual mass-market price band, with hybrid drive and a more upmarket positioning than smaller family SUVs. Price starts at RM289,000.

Harrier in 2026 — what's new

For 2026, the XU80 Harrier range in Malaysia is the 2.5 HEV only, priced at RM289,000 OTR. The change is the shift to a 2.5-litre hybrid as the sole variant, with 217 PS combined and a 12.3-inch digital display. The earlier local range had included 2.0-litre versions with kit such as a 360-degree camera and full TSS.

Verdict

The Harrier’s appeal is its familiar name in Malaysia and the XU80’s TNGA-K base, shared with the XV70 Camry, Toyota RAV4 and Lexus ES. The hybrid-only 2026 range gives it a clearer identity than the earlier 2.0-litre car. But RM289,000 is not the cheap end of the D-segment SUV class: the Hyundai Santa Fe starts at RM225,000, while Proton X90 is far lower at RM106,800.
