The GAC Aion ES has been launched in Malaysia at the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024. The EV sedan is offered in one variant priced at RM106,800. In conjunction with its official launch, buyers get a free 7 kW wallbox worth RM3,500.
The Aion ES measures 4,810 mm long, 1,880 mm wide and 1,545 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, making it larger than fellow C-segment classmates such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis and Mazda 3 sedan.
A 136 PS/225 Nm electric motor, fed by a 55.2 kWh LFP battery, drives the front wheels, enabling a 442 km NEDC range. The boot holds 450 litres and wheels are 17-inch alloys wrapped in 215/55 rubber.
The Aion ES can be charged at up to 6.6 kW AC (11 hours to full) or 60 kW DC (1.5 hours to full, 30-80% in 30 minutes). There’s also 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), one-pedal driving and three regen settings.
As standard you get all-LED lighting, auto headlamps and wipers, dual-zone auto air-con, rear air vents, leatherette seats, one-touch power windows (up+down for driver, down only for front passenger), conventional cruise control and a power tailgate.
There’s more – a rotary gear selector, auto-dim rear-view mirror, six-way driver seat adjustment, 3.5-inch LCD multi-info display and an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay.
Safety-wise, you get two airbags (!), ISOFIX, reverse camera and ESP. Available colours are Glamour Black, Holographic Silver and Pure White.
Warranties are eight years/160,000 km for the vehicle, eight years/200,000 km for the battery, motor and ECU. The network currently consists of 21 new showrooms and service centres nationwide.
