Mugen Fit Spec D Prototype

mugenfitspecd.jpg

I’m pretty impressed by the elegant not too loud bodykit that Mugen has put on the Honda Fit. It looks really great in it’s orange colour too, but what really makes the Mugen Fit Spec D special compared to the other kitted up Honda Fits (Honda Jazz in our markets) out there?

Yup, it’s supercharged. Mugen has already made one pocket rocket Honda Fit previously with their Mugen Fit Dynamite powered by the same Honda K20A engine in it’s Civic Type R and Integras.

This Mugen Fit Spec D runs the same L15A SOHC 1.5 litre engine in the original Honda Fit, but it is equipped with a supercharger just like the Civic Dominator. This results in a nice 145 horsepower harnessed by a 5-speed manual gearbox on a small city car.

The gauges are also new, with the center dial being replaced with a combination of a boost gauge and a digital speedometer. I’m really not sure why one would need such a huge boost gauge. IMHO they should have put the RPM gauge in the middle and the boost gauge on the left.

ya la paul, they should put the tachometer in the middle la.. little be slcak la for me.. like 'poyo'ing int the sens of showing this cars have boost from a supercharge compressor.. but other than that.. it look cool enough..

i dont know about you all, but if you guys watch best motoring series, the american touge, keichi tsuchiya and orido tested the US tuned japanese cars. They were honda's nsx and s2000. What they did was, they put a supercharger to them, and it was one heck of a performance show especially for the nsx. So japanese top tuner now really going for supercharging rather than turbo?

Front bodykit is nice but the rear kinda MIRA styling.. doesnt look good there…

Couldnt agree more on the boost meter… and why do they still retain those seats? It could look much better with semi or full bucket seats…

The rims doesnt look 'garang' enough with that bodykit… prefer those with larger spokes…

depending on who is modding, and what their intentions are, superchargers and turbochargers both have their pros and cons. i dont think we will see superchargers taking over turbos anytime soon, although super chargers are pretty common in the US.

Paul/everybody – any idea how much it will cost to "supercharge" this car? I heard that Proton Satria GTi 1.8l engine supercharger installation costs at least RM6,000.

Now thats hot. Bravo Mugen. Could rethink that rear bumper though. There is a nice Jazz rear bumper with a diffuser underneath. I think it would go well with this Mugen bodykit.

lance: more exepensive than turbocharging one, definitely more than 6K

Love the outside, especially the widened rear fenders and taillamps, but i think the interior could use more work, especially the seats, the leather on those looks loose.
